Eagle Harbor Solutions, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced System Administrator to support EHS and our government customer in Denver, CO . This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. The salary for this position is 115K.

The primary objective of this position is to provide server system administration services to the governments Reclamation’s Enterprise System Administration Branch in support of GRID and IMS Projects.

The Reclamation IT Enterprise System Administration Branch develops, installs, maintains, and supports a broad range of systems and technologies.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Candidate shall work closely with the Government Technical Service Area Lead concerning day to day issues, activities, and projects.

  • Candidate shall work for Reclamation’s Enterprise System Administration (ESA) Team on the Generation Resources Information Database (GRID) and Industrial Monitoring System (IMS) Projects.

  • The ESA Team manages and maintains Reclamation’s Enterprise Windows servers hosting a variety of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS), internally developed application software, databases, and file and print services.

  • It is the responsibility of this team to provide reliable, secure, state-of-art IT services in the area of Microsoft Windows Administration, including overall support for current and new functions involving Enterprise Windows standards, Enterprise Windows servers belonging to the Department of Interior’s (DOI) Active Directory Forest Windows servers and related activities.

  • The team also participates, in conjunction with other teams, in the administration of the DOI Active Directory Forest.

  • Comprehensive understanding of network services and networks such as TCP/IP, OSPF and EIGRP

  • In-depth understanding and practical knowledge of networking sytems such as LAN, firewalls, routers and printers

  • Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently

  • Ability to design, implement and troubleshoot Wi-FI and security infrastructure

  • Time management

  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously from design to implementation

  • Ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology

Experience:

  • Operating System (OS) Administration

  • Component Object Model/Distributed Component Object Model (COM/DCOM)

  • Group Policy/User Account Control (UAC)

  • Networking

  • Windows Services and Registry Editor

  • Command line in PowerShell and Console

  • Hardware configuration – drive partitioning, memory, installation of software

  • OLE Process Controls - Data Access (OPC-DA)

  • General Electric (GE) Historian – points and history backfill

  • Aveva PI Historian – points and history backfill

  • Aveva Predictive Analytics (PdM) software (or equivalent) - installation and ongoing support

  • Remote Screen View, Remote Folders

  • Networking, Network Time Protocol (NTP) server, Media Access Control addressing (MAC), Subnetting

GE Historian:

  • Security Groups and Tags Administration

  • DCOM security for OLE Process Controls-Historical Data Access (OPCHDA) Server

  • Archive administration

  • Troubleshooting using GE Archive Logs

  • GE tag data types, scan rates, data deviation and compression

PI Historian:

  • PI System Administrator

  • Security Groups and Tags Administration

  • PI and Windows Active Directory security integration (Kerberos)

  • PI services

  • Archive administration

  • PI Interface configuration (OPC-HDA, PI to PI)

  • PI Troubleshooting, e.g., using PI Application Logs, PI Message Logs, PI Network Manager, Windows Event Viewer

  • PI tag data types, scan rates, data deviation and compression

Waterfall:

  • Waterfall for GE Historian Points and History Backfill

  • Waterfall for PI Historian Points and History Backfill

  • Waterfall Remote Screen View

  • Waterfall for OPC-DA, OPC-HAD

  • Waterfall TX and RX servers use a multi-homed configuration with specific network interface card configuration per their user manual

  • For the initial build, knowledge of MAC addressing and host firewall configuration for TCP and UDP will be necessary.

  • OS and Powershell configuration of network connection profile and net time are necessary.

  • IMS Aveva Predictive Analytics (PdM) software (or equivalent software packages)

  • Server hardware configuration and GSS network connection

  • OS and Security administration

  • Application installation- physical and/or cloud-based server

  • Data archive access via GSS network

  • User account controls

System updates and patching:

  • IMS Firewall

  • Hardware Configuration

  • Configure and manage firewall policies and rules

  • Monitoring and analyzing network traffic

  • Ensure scalability of configuration

  • User account controls

Candidate will be working in following Windows Operational Environment:

  • Operating Systems: Microsoft Windows Server 2012r2 and later

  • Automated Installations: Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) Operating System Deployment (OSD); VMware vSphere templates

  • Patch Management: SCCM Software Updates Management; Windows Update

  • System Configuration: SCCM; Group Policy

  • Automated Monitoring: Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM); Splunk, IBM Enterprise Manager (IEM) and various other software

  • Scripting: VBScript; PowerShell

  • Backup & Recovery: Veeam 1 The Technical Service Area Lead (TSAL) individual is a Federal Information Technology subject matter expert employee that provides technical direction within their respective task area of expertise for activities under this PWS on a day‐to‐day basis.

  • Account Management: NetIQ Directory and Resource Administrator (DRA); Centrify; native Active Directory Utilities

  • Service Ticketing: Bison Support System

  • Virtualization: VMware vSphere, Horizon or Azure AVD

  • Remote Assistance: Bomgar

  • Remote Access: Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP)

  • Alerting and Change Control: Quest Change Auditor; Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), SharePoint.

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field

  • 5+ years of related work experience

  • Desired - Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), CompTIA Server+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, Red Hat Certified Engineer or VMware Certified Professional

Requirement:

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
