Department Of Energy Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist (CYBERMGT) in Denver, Colorado
Summary This position is part of the Energy Threat Analysis Center (ETAC) within the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response, Department of Energy. As a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist (CYBERMGT), you will be responsible for leading efforts to expand information technology and operational technology cybersecurity situational awareness and analysis of cyber threats to U.S. energy systems through a collective defense posture that brings together industry and government. Responsibilities As a Supervisory IT Cybersecurity Specialist (CYBERMGT), you will: Direct the day-to-day, tactical work of the Energy Threat Analysis Center (ETAC)'s technical and analytical activities, to include strategic leadership and operational coordination with industry, interagency, and national laboratory partners. Enable an information exchange among government and industry to address the increasing cyber threats to U.S. energy systems and ensure ETAC deliverables meet the needs of the energy sector. Supervise a team of Information Technology Cybersecurity Specialists. Build and promote a work-culture that is inclusive, collaborative, and maximizes the talent of team members. Develop project plans and strategies to implement and execute analytical priorities as determined by DOE leadership. Oversee the ETAC's technology operations by reviewing new technology proposals, leading integrations, and launching training so analysts are prepared to use new technologies. Ensure cohesion of ETAC activities across the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security and Emergency Response by utilizing a matrixed structure, working directly with the Policy, Preparedness, and Risk Analysis (PPRA), Risk Management Tools (RMT), and other Response & Restoration (R&R) staff. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications You must meet both the Basic Requirement and the Specialized Experience to qualify for this series as described below: BASIC REQUIREMENT: Applicants must have IT-related education and experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below at a proficiency level equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-14) in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as meeting ALL of the following: Implementing cyber threat analysis capabilities and product delivery. Leading cybersecurity operations activities for Information Technology and Operational Technology. Providing technical guidance to support the development of intelligence requirements. Developing cybersecurity strategies and policies to support and align with initiatives and regulatory compliance. "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
