Your Opportunity
Stantec is currently looking to add a Structural Engineer to support our Energy group. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and interest in the field of civil/structural engineering. This position applies knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields, with specific emphasis in structural engineering. The candidate must have familiarity with common methods for structural analysis and design of structures using relevant codes and standards. Applicant must be capable of working effectively with multidisciplinary teams and clients and be willing to learn from peers and supervisors. Work is related to hydraulic structures.
Your Key Responsibilities
Participate on multidisciplinary teams in a virtual team environment as well as in an office environment.
Perform preliminary and detailed civil /structural analysis and design for concrete, steel, and masonry structures.
Preparation of studies, design criteria, design reports, plans and specifications, and review of related designs and construction plans, and support of construction
Organize, draft and coordinate production of various reports to ensure technical consistency and inclusion of appropriate documentation
Inspect construction for compliance with specifications; review and approve drawings; conduct field inspections; review progress versus schedule
Assist with preparation of budgets and scopes of work.
Assist in project administration including writing reports, gathering information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, and completing progress reports.
Assist technical staff in field activities including site inspections, shop inspections, monitoring and other fieldwork
Work in a manner to ensure your personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks and excellent computer skills.
The position also requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, report preparation, and the ability to work with engineering staff at all levels.
Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering calculations and analyses related to medium to large concrete/hydraulic structures associated with dams, tunnels and hydroelectric facilities.
Experience with excel and/or MATHCAD programs.
Will be based out of the Pasadena/Los Angeles area but requires willingness to work in a virtual team across offices and occasional project travel.
Strong willingness to be a part of a large global engineering company, and to work with teams in other offices around the world.
Education and Experience
B.S. in Civil Engineering with focus on Structural engineering, Master’s degree with emphasis in structural engineering preferred
PE preferred or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
5 years’ experience in the design and implementation of large infrastructure.
Preferred Experience structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures and familiarity with the relevant codes and guidelines.
Preferred Software Experience finite element software such as SAP2000, ANSYS and LS DYNA.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):
Salary Range(s):
$97,100 - $140,800 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO, HI, MD and IL
CA Other Areas $104,200 - CA Other Areas $151,000 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
