Xcel Energy Sr Plant Process Computer Systems Analyst in Denver, Colorado

Position Summary

Manage Chiller Plant real-time computer controls and data acquisition systems. This includes analyzing, recommending and developing systems and applications for chiller plant computer controls to enhance the overall station performance. Also acts as subject matter expert and consultant to other facilities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintain knowledge of current control design and equipment technology. Plans, forecasts, and budgets for the applications of innovative control system technology in response to industry competition.

  • Acts as a subject matter expect to design and maintain plant applications on distributed digital control systems, data acquisition systems, programmable logic controllers, simulators, and other peripheral subsystems. Design and maintain performance monitoring equipment including modeling artificial intelligence applications. Optimizes computer system to maximize station performance and availability.

  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain hardware and software including equipment specifications, scheduling parts replacement. Provides start-up/shut down support. Develops operating and maintenance procedures.

  • Maintain plant historical databases in compliance with quality assurance and data security procedures. Responsible for assigning logins, passwords and maintaining high security of the plant computer control systems.

  • Recommends, coordinates and conducts operational training for plant personnel.

  • Perform plant instrument calibration, project coordination, troubleshooting and betterment duties as required. Provides and schedules consulting services to other facilities.

  • Prepare reports and proposals for management from historical databases to include sequence of events and operational trending. Analyze data trends and make recommendations to management.

  • Assists with computer operations/installation needs of chiller plant.

Minimum Requirements

BS degree in Computer Science with 5 years power plant instrument/controls experience, or 10 years instrument/controls experience and demonstrated leadership in plant computer systems operation, maintenance, and development. Must demonstrate a significant level of knowledge of plant site, systems and control loops.

Preferred Requirements

Tridium Niagara 4 Technical Certification, Knowledge and working experience with making program changes to building automation controller programs, Knowledge and working experience with network architecture diagrams, wiring diagrams, building automation sequence of operation documentation.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $79,000.00 to $112,999.00 per year
