Blue Origin, LLC Separation Systems Manager - Mechanical Materials Structural in Denver, Colorado

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. As a Manager for New Glenn Stage 2 Customer and Payload Accommodations Separation Systems, you will collaborate with the Sr. Director of Customer & Payload Accommodations and have responsibility for implementing the design, development, test, and production of the full team's separation systems scope including pneumatic systems, actuation systems, ordnance-based separation systems, payload separation systems, and all associated scope. This position will encompass all aspects of program management to include cost, schedule, technical design, and risk management as well as working with Blue Origin internal organizations and suppliers to deliver qualified hardware and systems. You will set team technical direction requiring a wide application of sophisticated engineering principles, theories and concepts and knowledge of other related subject areas. You will lead and manage the team with impact on all aspects of launch vehicle mechanical systems engineering. You will closely coordinate with supplier management and internal manufacturing organizations to complete first-time system builds while solving schedule and technical issues as they arise. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated dedication and attention towards safe and reliable spaceflight.Responsibilities: Meet and exceed ambitious schedule, cost, and performance requirements. Plan and coordinate the resources vital to successfully craft, build, test, and certify all New Glenn Stage 2 Customer and Payload Accommodations separation systems. Lead team in source selection for all separation systems procured commodities, supplier selection and management. Lead the design and development, including the entire lifecycle to include production. Identify, supervise, and mitigate risks to technical performance, cost and schedule. Lead the team to develop and document fluid system design to support operations, integration, manufacturing, and quality. Lead and develop the team through hiring, training, and mentoring while providing technical leadership. Meet recurring cost target and manage risk and opportunities to per flight cost requirement. Support commercial and government launch customer requests for information, proposals, and alternate use cases. Establish, maintain, and report on team safety products, fault trees, reliability, component level failure mode assessments, and operational hazards.
