Description of Job

This position independently performs a range of tasks related to work involved in the fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance and repair of gas, steam, air, refrigeration, or plumbing fixtures, equipment, pipes, fittings, and controls.

A summary of the duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Pipe and Plumbing work - Assist with repairs, modifications and installation of piping. This includes assisting with fabricating, assembling, maintaining and repairing of gas, steam, air, refrigeration, fire protection and or plumbing systems. Assists with installing

valves, pumps, pipes and motors. Assists with fabricating, bending, cutting, threading and connecting pipes to components. Responds to verbal and or written work requests to address various problems with plumbing, steam, and process piping components and systems. Assists with testing, cleaning, and repairing backflow devices. Performs unclogging of plumbing fixtures, replacement of plumbing fixtures and ancillary parts. Responds to customer initiated reports of plumbing associated failures and issues.

  • Preventative Maintenance - Assists with and performs preventative maintenance on HVAC & plumbing equipment such as lubricating bearings, servicing pumps, shafts & other building equipment. Changes filters, belts & other components per instruction by supervisor & Pipe Trades II while ensuring that all equipment & associated controls are functioning properly.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

At least two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position

OR

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to at least two (2)

years

The exceptional candidate will possess the proven ability or accomplishment in the following preferred qualifications:

  • Previous State Service related to the work assigned to the position

  • Working knowledge of plumbing systems

  • Previous maintenance experience

  • Central chiller plant experience

  • Working knowledge of heat pump systems

  • Building automation systems experience

    Conditions of Employment:

  • A pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.

  • Travel: Occasional travel to Grand Junction

  • On-Call Status: Must be able to work on-call rotational / emergencies

  • Shift Work: Must be available to work on shifts

    Comparative Analysis Process The comparative analysis process for this position may consist of a structured application review, an online assessment and a structured interview.

    Appeal Rights:
