As a Heavy Equipment Operator for our Denver District, you will contribute to our team by:

  • Reports to work on time, ready to work safely and learn.

  • Certified Traffic Control Person based on project needs.

  • Safely operate heavy equipment to excavate, move, load and grade earthwork and other materials.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience operating excavator, loader, skid loader

  • Grading experience, must be able to read and understand grade stake

  • Experience working on and around utilities

  • Perform various activities including but not limited to roadway demolition, loading trucks, grading, excavation, backfilling

  • Perform Daily inspections and advice supervisor if repairs or maintenance is needed.

  • Checking all fluids on a daily basis.

  • Greasing equipment per manufactures recommendations.

  • Performing required housekeeping in the cab, on the windows and on the exterior of the equipment.

  • Operate equipment safely in close proximity to other equipment and crew members

  • Recognize risks and hazards on the jobsite and adhere to company safety policies and procedures.

  • Ensure equipment is operated safely within its capabilities and limitations.

  • Maintain a clean and safe jobsite.

  • Perform other duties as required.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Must be 18 year of age or older

  • Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in civil construction preferred

  • Familiar with field concepts, practices and procedures

  • Knowledge and skill in operating specified heavy equipment

  • High regard for safety and pride for quality of work

  • Self-motivated and team player

  • Able to multi-task, show initiative and ask questions as needed

  • Able to follow directions to ensure completion of daily tasks

  • Have a high degree of flexibility in a changing environment

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Strength to perform average lifting of up to 50 pounds, from the ground to above head.

  • Should be able to navigate through the worksite on a daily basis

  • Occasionally climbs up and down ladders, scaffolding, and stairs. Must be able to work in extreme temperatures, in confined spaces, high places, and under pressure.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

The salary range for this position is between $24.00 and $38.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
