Summary This position is a Fish and Wildlife Administrator, GS- 0480-14 working in Denver, Colorado for the R6-ARD-Fish and Aquatic Conservation. Responsibilities As a Fish and Wildlife Administrator your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Direct policy and staff functions of the Fish and Aquatic Conservation program by formulating and implementing policies, standards, and procedures. Stimulate cross-program and cross-Regional consultation, cooperation, and partnerships. Develop Fish and Aquatic Conservation program policy and guidance, and establish program priorities consistent with regional and national goals and policies. Negotiate and execute budgets, manage program funds for operating budgets, and provide input to budget formulation and allocations. Obtain cooperation from, and maintain liaison with, multiple entities to support and advance the interests of the Fish and Aquatic Conservation program. Directly supervise field project leaders, review and evaluate operations, hear and resolve serious complaints or group grievances from subordinates, and provide advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Only experience and education obtained by 12/13/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess both the Basic Requirement and Minimum Qualification. Basic Requirement: Bachelor's or higher degree in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that included course work equivalent to a major (i.e. 30 semester/45 quarter hours or school equivalent) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or a discipline closely related to fish and wildlife biology; PLUS appropriate experience or additional course work. The quality of my combined education and experience sufficiently demonstrates that it equals 100% of the basic requirements. OR Four years of experience that demonstrates the knowledge and understanding of one or more of the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, or related discipline equivalent to that which would have been acquired through completion of a four-year course of study as described in "A" above. Minimum Qualification [GS-14]: One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-13 in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as managing programs designed to benefit fish and wildlife and MUST include at least three of the following: 1) experience and effectiveness in public speaking and in technical and non-technical writing; 2) serving as a subject matter expert to senior leadership concerning controversial and complex natural resource issues; 3) developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships with a variety of organizations, agencies, and groups concerned with outcome-based adaptive resource management; and/or 4) performing a full range of supervisory/managerial duties and responsibilities for a diverse professional staff. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
