Pioneer Management Consulting Energy & Utilities Construction Manager in Denver, Colorado

This role will primarily work with our Energy & Utility clients across a portfolio of major generation, transmission and distribution capital projects.

The Construction Manager acts as an Owner’s representative overseeing and monitoring schedule and status of activities including site safety, site management, material handling, permitting, construction drawings, environmental remediation, quality control, startup and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities may include:

  • Provides on-site construction and overhaul oversight or direct supervision of external construction resources on behalf of client.

  • Provides input during the planning stages and guides the project through the construction activities in the stage gate process.

  • Partners with the business unit, operations, and other stakeholders during construction.

  • Executes construction activities in partnership with contract construction resources including site safety, site management, material handling, road closure and street cut permitting, construction drawings, environmental remediation, quality control, startup and commissioning and turnover to plant operations.

  • Monitors contractor schedule to ensure Contractor is completing work on time and ensures work completed in the field matches what is being billed.

  • Initiates and coordinates (with site and contractor safety personnel) safety audits, as appropriate.

  • Monitors field construction and overhaul activities of Contractor including job site safety, traffic patterns, lay down areas, security, labor utilization, construction scheduling, material receipt process, site fabrication, QA and QC measures, change control, cost control, construction logs and construction reporting.

  • Performs in-depth project constructability assessments and reviews as required.

  • Establishes effective internal and external relationships with Contractors and client business unit management and staff.

  • Develops and maintains a state-of-the-art knowledge of construction and overhaul techniques and technologies.

  • Establishes effective working relationships with external entities (suppliers, industry contacts, etc.), and internal client organizations to maximize project efficiency, effectiveness, responsiveness, and resource allocation. Represent client’s interests in contacts and relationships with suppliers, contractors, industry/professional organizations, and the public while always maintaining high ethical standards.

  • Provide QA/QC of the work completed by the client’s Contractor, ensuring correct construction methods have been completed and billing matches what was installed.

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience required

  • Minimum 7 years of construction management experience for large scale transmission or generation projects

  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements. Current OSHA 30 certification

  • Experience working with multiple contract types including EPC and General Contractor as well as acting as Owner’s representative

  • Knowledge and experience with project management processes and tools

  • Knowledge of project controls, critical path method scheduling and risk assessment

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

The estimated hourly rate for this role is $120-145/hr.
