Summary This position is located at US Mint,Denver-MANUF DEPT/Plant Mgr CO/Plant Engineer Div CO/Ind Maint Br/INDUSTRIAL EQUIP SECTION. Incumbent installs, maintains, trouble analyzes, rebuilds, overhauls, modifies, aligns, and calibrates complex integrated electronic equipment and electrical systems (computer, security-and fire-systems, data lines) and indicating and recording systems on industrial coin production machinery and mechanical systems. Responsibilities The following are the duties of this position at the WG-12. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As an ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS MECHANIC, you will: Repair, trouble analyze, modify, calibrate, align, program, and install complex electromechanical system, i.e., annealing equipment, security and fire systems, programmable computers, controls for coin presses, numerically controlled machines (coin counters), etc., and solid-state controls. Rebuild, overhaul, modify, install, maintain, and test complex electronic equipment systems for sensing and control. To include but are not limited to: multiple axis numerically controlled machine tools (machining centers), computer programmable controlled coin press monitoring systems, internal and external security systems, electronic weighing systems, automated packaging systems, and electronic communication systems. Replace defective wiring, relays, selectors, automatic control circuits, electronic sensing systems, industrial timing systems and machine safety, and control interlock systems. Installs conduit, raceways, and new electrical and electronic equipment systems. Evaluate circuitry interrelationships, interactions, and interconnections of assemblies and systems. Trouble analyzes, rebuild, and overhaul systems, modify techniques and procedures to specified parameters. Adapt test procedures to test equipment and tests and aligns completed work. Judge impact of repairs on related integral devices of equipment. Coordinate with technical and professional personnel on matters affecting operating specifications, development of new control or instrumentation systems, changes to equipment systems and their modifications. Requirements Conditions of Employment All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. A one-year probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis. May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc. Pass a pre-employment physical examination. Physical Requirements: Work involves standing, walking, stooping, bending, climbing, kneeling, and working from ladders, scaffolds, platform lifts and hard to reach places. The work also involves reaching and working in awkward and uncomfortable positions, and lifting tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally lifts in excess of 40 pounds.
