Iron Mountain seeks a Director of Operations Platform Architecture to be a strategic leader and key change agent in Iron Mountain's operations transformation. We are seeking a hands-on technology leader to drive platform strategy and system integration efforts to expand and modernize our existing Supply Chain Management footprint. This is a strategic and innovative role to design and oversee end-to-end supply chain solutions that drive efficiency, scalability, and resilience. This role blends leadership and technical expertise, requiring collaboration with stakeholders to align supply chain architecture with business goals. This is a leadership position leading a team of architects supporting our operational platforms.
This position will be a key change agent, strategic thinker and technical expert who can build a team to focus on results while also building long term strategic plans to evolve the technology platform solutions to position the company for strategic growth. This leader will need to balance strategic vision with hands-on leadership and also bring energy and enthusiasm by leading by example to inspire cultural change and demonstrate what “art of the possible” means in practice.
This individual will have a deep architecture experience with specific platforms along with experience and knowledge with many of the latest technologies in that domain. The Platform Architect guides and collaborates closely with cross functional teams to define, maintain and modernize the platform architecture and ensures alignment with enterprise goals and drives innovation. This role will also be responsible for continuously improving the capabilities using data-driven methods, enforcing platform standards, ensuring compliance with policy where required and enabling a rich developer and user experience.
Role and Responsibilities:
Platform Architecture
Strategic Design: Develop reference architecture and implement platform strategy for supply chain architecture strategies that support business objectives and operational efficiency.
Solution Development: Design and optimize systems for inventory management, logistics, demand planning, procurement, and fulfillment.
Technology Integration: Leverage emerging technologies (e.g., IoT, AI, machine learning, blockchain) to modernize and automate supply chain operations.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and other corporate functions, to align architecture with organizational needs.
Data-Driven Insights: Build and maintain data models to predict and resolve potential bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
Compliance and Security: Ensure solutions comply with industry regulations, data privacy standards, and cybersecurity best practices.
Enterprise Technology: Partner with enterprise and technology architects to identify and enable the top strategic technologies/platforms that will help shape the organization’s technology footprint to support cross-enterprise business requirements.
Measurement: Develop and communicate measurements of platform progress and business impact
Cross-Domain Knowledge: Drives cross-domain initiatives that are supported by end-to-end design, applies digital standards to project platform architecture, and drives technical strategy and architectural tradeoff discussions
Leadership:
Drives the recruitment, hiring, training, motivating and retaining of team members
Coaches and provides technical guidance and mentorship to the teams to improve collaboration and outcomes
Encourages a culture of team-driven decision making and commitment
Keeps abreast of industry trends through benchmarking, participation in professional associations, etc. in order to lead strategic business direction of the department
Critical Competencies:
Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Strong understanding of platform architecture principles and design patterns
Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable and high-performance SCM platforms
Expertise in relevant programming languages and technologies
Deep knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Experience with Agile development methodologies
Ability to work in a fast paced, high tech environment juggling multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
People Leadership: - Strong people manager with the ability to manage teams and develop talent at various levels and locations; develop a team that is highly competent, business-minded, growth-oriented, diverse and inclusive, and motivated
The Ideal Candidate Characteristics & Credentials:
At least 15+ years of experience
Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Information Security or related field or equivalent experience
Experience working across all levels of a highly matrixed global organization
Strong sense of urgency and results orientation
Ability to quickly develop domain expertise and manage change
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment and maintain professionalism and integrity

Reasonably expected salary range: $183,200.00 - $244,200.00
