Position Summary

The Director of Basketball Operations assists the Head Coach in the administration of all aspects of the sport program including, recruiting, contest , scheduling, supervising sports personnel, coordinating travel , budget management, coordinating logistics including team meals, buses, video and meeting rooms and film exchange, and ensuring program compliance with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Handling the program's daily basketball operations, coordinating its travel itineraries and overseeing the team's student managers, on-campus-recruiting, monitoring the academic progress of student athletes.
  • Assisting with video editing systems, providing game day management, assisting with designing graphics and contest of recruiting materials, managing the budget , paying small dollar invoices, assisting with P-card reconciliation for Head and Assistant coaches as needed. Contest scheduling and monitoring study tables.
  • Assist in the recruitment of student-athletes under the direction of the Head Coach.
  • Exhibiting the highest professional standards and ethical behavior with regard to adherence to NCAA, Conference, University and the Department of Athletics code of ethics. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrating excellent writing, speaking and listening abilities

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. Excellent communication and public relation skills. Commitment to the academic success of student - athletes.
  • Exhibiting supportive and cooperative behavior in pursing sport program goals established by the head coach.
  • Quantitative and qualitative reasoning are necessary. Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and problem solving ability is necessary. The ability to exercise good decision making under pressure is necessary.
  • Contributing to the maintenance of good working relationships with all members of the Division.
  • Assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice Chancellor of Athletics. Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Previous experience in basketball operations.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations with demonstrated exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to support high academic standards and to motivate students. Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree

  • Experience at the Division 1 level Working Environment

• Standard collegiate athletic facility with multiple activities occurring simultaneously. • Noise and stress level is moderate to high and fluctuates through the season.

Physical Activities

• Considerable physical activity. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 50 lb . • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 50 lbs. with assistance. Some manual labor is required. • Position involves both inside sedentary work and work on different fields and on other fitness environments while coaching and training situations with student-athletes.

Work Schedule 8am to 4:30pm weekdays. Some travel with weekends, evenings and early mornings within the varsity season.
