As a member of the properties Leadership Committee, the Director of Finance is a highly visible role with exposure to Senior and Corporate leadership, property ownership and our asset management firm. This position reports to the hotel General Manager.
The Director of Finance is responsible for providing consistent leadership in the financial area of the hotel by focusing on the profitability of the business; maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting; ensuring acceptable levels on internal control; ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations and Standard Operating Procedures; and safeguarding owners’ assets.
Duties include:
Responsible for short and long term planning and the management of the Finance Division.
Participate in total hotel management as a member of the Hotel Leadership Committee.
Manage and lead hotel on-site finance functions to ensure proper fiscal management, timely and accurate reporting and analysis for the hotel. This responsibility also includes hotel financial planning, budgeting, accounting and cash management.
Effectively manage and communicate cash flow related issues. This includes the accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements for the property: cash flow statements, management of receivables, payables, cash balances, control mechanisms and timely deposits of all funds.
Forecasting, budgeting and preparation of the estimates of financial performance to create analytical insights that drive results.
Prepare and review all monthly and annual financial statements. Investigate, review and analyze the variance explanations, involving the department managers in this process. Take initiative to manage trouble shooting for respective cost controls and revenue enhancement.
Assist in nurturing the important relationship with the owners. Be responsible for supervising and coordinating owner reporting as required. Provide custom reports, respond quickly to questions or requests and attend meetings.
Manage SOX compliance.
Complete the year-end audit process. Review and approve all reconciliations and audit work papers. Coordinate external auditor's visits, respond to auditor requests, approve all adjustments, reconcile the audit numbers to the property numbers and approve the final audit.
Aid in the preparation and final review of the annual business plans.
Have a sound understanding of the forecasting system and the tools from Revenue Management.
Review monthly and quarterly property financial forecasts, assure that the forecast is attainable.
Coach and counsel colleagues to reflect Hyatt’s Purpose of Care, our Values as well as our service standards, practices and procedures.
Providing leadership to an onsite team of knowledgeable and skilled individuals in the Finance, Purchasing, Productivity and IT functions of the property.
Maintaining a close relationship with the various support functions at the Hyatt Shared Services Center and maintain ongoing communication with the various Hyatt Divisional and Corporate functional areas.
Coordinating the preparation of the presentations for the monthly asset manager/owner meetings, active participation in such meetings, and ongoing communication with the asset managers/owners of the hotel.
Developing and maintaining the short and long term career advancement and succession plans of direct reports.
Providing leadership and divisional financial guidance to each hotel’s Leadership Committee Team.
Directs or prepares all financial reports in accordance with requirements, meeting various due dates and deadlines,
Weekly: A/R & A/P Aging, Flash Reports, Payroll Reports, Cash Tracking
Monthly: Financial Statements, Variance Reports, Forecasting, Key Statistics Report, Cash Flow
Annual: Budgets, 5-Year Plans, 5-Year Capital Plans
Monitor the accurate production of the hotel’s daily operating report.
Maintain and manage disbursements in accordance with the approved annual capital budget. Assist DOE with preparation of the annual capital budget.
Contract administration to insure compliance with Hotel Operating Agreement requirements.
Insure hotel compliance with Hyatt’s internal controls subject to internal corporate review.

Qualifications:
Qualifications
Previous Director of Finance experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
Hospitality and or Finance degree preferred
6 years or more of relevant or commensurate experience hotel Finance experience
Must possess the following strengths: personal integrity, high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and a mindset aimed at protection and improvement of the property bottom line
Service oriented style with professional presentations skills with clear concise written and verbal communication skills
Must be an advanced user of Microsoft Word and Excel using Smartview and Essbase
Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
Salary range for this position is $137,600 - $179,000
