DaVita Venture Group is the innovation and growth arm of DaVita, focused on transforming care delivery to improve quality of life for patients around the globe. DVG oversees investments, partnerships, M&A opportunities, and pharma contracting with businesses that improve care for patients suffering from kidney disease and related comorbidities. We are seeking a creative, passionate, and driven professional with a deep understanding of healthcare to join our Strategic Venture Investing team. The team will primarily invest in early-stage healthcare companies across technology, care delivery models, diagnostics, and devices.

The position is in Denver, CO. Travel is anticipated to be 20-30%.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Please note the following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all-inclusive.

Manage venture investing team, which is focused on sourcing and vetting innovative companies to DaVita Venture Fund

Guide the strategic direction/focus of fund operations and sourcing efforts

Work with team to establish and maintain operating processes and principles

Create sourcing pipeline that spans across diverse thematic areas

Identify opportunities to bring relevant companies to DaVita leadership and craft deeper strategic learnings from potential partnerships

Build strong relationships within DaVita and the external market

Network and build strong relationships within DaVita and existing business lanes to understand strategic priorities and initiatives

Become trusted partner who will be utilized to vet internal diligence processes

Facilitate involvement of subject matter experts in diligence and strategic assessments

Drive market research and support sourcing efforts to help identify new investment trends and opportunities

Deal screening: call and/or meet with prospects, evaluate opportunities

Cultivate a network of venture capital investors and other industry partners to support sourcing and syndicate creation

Be a thought leader, maintaining up-to-date knowledge on industry and technology trends

Lead DaVita's presence externally by attending and participating at events and conferences

Lead due diligence and deal execution efforts

Coordinate, perform, and assist in diligence efforts, leading management interviews and external research to evaluate team, market, competition, product, sales, and growth

Perform and oversee financial and valuation analysis

Draft internal investment memos

Coordinate with internal and external counsel on legal and IP diligence

Collaborate with DaVita stakeholders to build strategic investment rationale

Lead and support deal negotiations with target companies and other investors

Portfolio company management

Be a point of connectivity between portfolio companies and DaVita and support the development of customer relationships

Take Board of Director seat or Board Observer seat in portfolio companies

Support portfolio company success, including fundraising support, strategic guidance, hiring, etc.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred

8+ years work experience, ideally with exposure to the healthcare industry, consulting, banking or early-stage investing. Experience in an operating role in healthcare is also a plus

Demonstrated problem-solving, quantitative, and qualitative analysis skills

Understanding of clinical, operational, and financial drivers that impact healthcare organization decision-making

Intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for the healthcare IT/services industry

Strong communication (written, verbal, listening, and presentation) skills

Highly collaborative, pragmatic, and resourceful problem-solver
