Salary for Announcement

The minimum of the pay range for this position is $40,000. We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $46,300 - $48,100. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. Additionally, Student Affairs has committed to tying our salaries to an understanding of a living wage. To that end, we will not pay less than $46,300.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Join an Office of Admissions team that is enthusiastic about promoting access to higher education by supporting prospective and incoming Metropolitan State University of Denver Roadrunners. The Admissions Counselor - Pathways to Possible is a member of the recruitment team within the Office of Admissions and contributes to the MSU Denver Mission to provide a high-quality, accessible, enriching education that prepares students for successful careers, post-graduate education and lifelong learning in a multicultural, global and technological society.

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of High School Outreach and Recruitment, the Admissions Counselor - Pathways to Possible shares broad recruitment and enrollment responsibilities with other members of the Office of Admissions. This position is a key player in the recruitment and outreach efforts of the university and provides counseling to prospective students, applicants, and admitted students to assist the university in meeting enrollment goals. The Admissions Counselor - Pathways to Possible is a part of the College Access team within the High School Outreach team in the Office of Admissions.

The College Access Team is dedicated to implementing meaningful and equitable engagement opportunities for students from historically underserved backgrounds to learn about and begin identifying with a college education. By embedding Counselors in underserved communities, the Admissions Counselor - Pathways to Possible will facilitate programming for underserved students and families, including Hispanic/Latinx, Black, Indigenous, and other students of color, along with low income and first-generation students who may not otherwise have considered pursuing college after high school.

The Admissions Counselor - Pathways to Possible is a temporary, award funded position with funding secured until August/September 2025, and intent to secure additional funding. The continuation of this position will depend on if additional funding can be secured.

Duties/Responsibilities

45% - Recruitment & Outreach

Represents MSU Denver at off -campus recruitment opportunities including college fairs, workshops, and community events. Manages a local and national recruitment territory by maintaining a regular visitation schedule to high schools in assigned regions. Conducts directed follow-up activities and communications for targeted prospective students, applicants, and newly admitted students via email, text, mail, phone, and CRM system. Assists with execution of on-campus recruitment related vents such as campus visits, group tours and bi-institutional events, and open house. This can entail presenting to large audiences and providing general support for the even Facilitates student application and admission by working closely with various MSU Denver student services programs and academic offices. Exercises professional judgment to interpret University policies to advise prospective and new students about admission procedures, transfer of credits, University policies, the financial aid process, scholarships, program requirements, registration, tuition classification, and available student support services.

40% - Pathways to Possible Counseling

Provides on-site admission counseling and educational planning to prospective students. Activities include but are not limited to: academic planning, college application process, college essay and resume writing, financial aid and scholarship application processes, and academic goal setting.
