We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Field Operation Mentor in our US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management (ORCM), Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Business Unit based in Denver City, Texas.

The Field Operations Mentor is responsible for developing and mentoring field employees in the Surveillance and Production Tech operations across the ORCM Enhanced Oil Recovery Business Unit (EOR BU). Responsible for assisting Assets with employee field development to increase employee technical knowledge of operations, safe work systems, operating systems, and networking.

Will work within the EOR Business Unit across multiple disciplines, including Surveillance, Surface operations, and alongside Production Ops Leadership support to achieve the following:

  • Educate employees on all Oxy safe work systems and the hazards that are associated with them
  • Develop a competency file for employees to share with their leads verifying oxy safety policies and technical understanding of operations
  • Educate employees on tools to reduce manual task between our systems.(Nexxus,SAP,WaRs,EVIN, etc)
  • Build and share best practices / standards across surface operations
  • Provide clarity of responsibilities of PT & PFA/IFA job families
  • Attend Surface COP and communicate information to field staff
  • Build a schedule to enroll new employees into training center courses
  • Work with local leads to plan rover coverage while employee are at the training center
  • Train employees in areas outside their normal route
  • Assist in any Lead request to further develop employees
  • Educate employee in fundamentals of instrument air, facility & wellhead process, and general troubleshooting,
  • Educate employees on DT codes
  • Assisting in capturing Asset Teams feedback around ideas to continually innovate and strive to improve the value captured from the asset’s operations.
  • Assist Asset Teams in achieving improved work life balance for staffing
  • Responsible to ensure adherence to Company Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Guidelines, as well as all applicable laws within the asset’s operations
  • Educate employees on emissions / flaring rules and regulations
  • Educate employees on SFRM process, screening, implications

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the petroleum industry or 15 years in production and automation operations.
  • EOR operations preferred.

Professional and Technical Knowledge/Qualifications/Licences/Certifications:

  • Demonstrated safety leadership skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering and operating principles required, recognized accomplishments in production, facilities, drilling, completions or reservoir engineering or production operations
  • Strong business acumen with understanding of economic analysis, risk assessment, and value capture
  • Demonstrated understanding of required business processes and regulatory requirements
  • Working knowledge of project management skills
  • Experience working in organizations with multi-discipline staffs
  • Detailed understanding of multiple artificial lift types, applications, design criteria and options with gas lift, beam and ESP experience preferred
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills managing multi-disciplined teams
    • Strong communication and networking skills with ability to influence without direct authority
    • Ability to build effective teams
    • Demonstrated quality decision making ability
    • Drive for results, sense of accountability for both personal and team performance
  • Demonstrated creativity in problem solving and ability to implement new ideas
  • Ability to adapt to change and ambiguity, effectively acts without having complete picture.
