Village of Delta Chief of Police in Delta, Ohio

The Village of Delta, Ohio is seeking qualified candidates to fill the full-time salaried position of Chief of Police. The Chief of Police, under the administrative direction of the mayor, directs, manages, supervises, coordinates the activities and operations of the Police Department, and determines and formulates policies within the laws and guidelines set by governing bodies. The successful candidate will be a "working "Chief in that they may be required to perform the duties of patrol officer as the need arises.

Minimum qualifications for this position are:

  1. Candidates must have a current peace officers certification granted by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) and maintain this certification thereafter.

  2. A valid Ohio Drivers's license.

  3. Preferred 10 years' experience with a municipal, township or county law enforcement agency.

  4. Preferred experience as a Police Chief, Deputy Chief, Chief Deputy, Sheriff or other equivalent supervisory position within a law enforcement agency for at least three years.

  5. Knowledge of the NIMS Certification program

  6. Must be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing all functions and responsibilities of the position of Chief of Police and be free of any medical condition which would preclude successful performance of said functions and responsibilities. Pre-appointment assessment could include: a physical examination, psychological assessment, and polygraph examination.

The Village of Delta, Ohio (pop. 3,300) is seeking candidates with strong decision-making skills, fiscal expertise, leadership qualities, communication skills and diplomacy to be its next Chief of Police. The Village of Delta is a small community in Fulton County, Ohio located close to the Ohio Turnpike 20 miles west of Toledo, Ohio. The current approved staffing is the Chief of Police, six full-time officers and two part-time officers and an administrative assistant. The department has a current working budget of $926,000.

Salary Range $62,000 - $85,000 depending on experience and includes a full benefit package.
