POSITION: Documentation Management Specialist
Documentation Management Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of order processing and documentation, and for ensuring chart completeness, accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards. They review orders and documentation to ensure reimbursement and to be compliant with Company policies. They assist with billing denials, appeals, audits and chart submissions as needed, they compile and analyze relevant statistical information and develop improvement strategies based on observations and trends in the data. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential for this role.
DUTIES: * Ensures accuracy and reliability in order processing and documentation. * Communicates with healthcare providers, pharmacists, and other staff to clarify order details, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely processing. * Assesses charts for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to regulatory standards prior to coding. * Collaborates with healthcare providers to clarify and resolve documentation issues, ensuring that all required information is captured correctly. * Tracks trends and/or errors in medical documentation and/or order entry and provides regular feedback to staff and/or providers to improve completeness and accuracy. * Strategizes and recommends adjustments to workflows and/or processes to help improve the accuracy and completeness of documentation and orders. * Tracks document submissions, revisions, and any related correspondence for outside vendors. * Utilizes manuals and software to determine medical necessity of tests, procedures and/or exams. * Assigns correct CPT codes or confirms existing codes on orders. * Processes all orders in a timely manner and then sends them to the preauthorization department.
REQUIREMENTS: * Prior experience, knowledge and understanding of relevant CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCs codes and relevant coding guidelines required. * Prior knowledge of medical necessity guidelines required. * High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Must have ability to read, write and follow instructions. * Typing, filing skills and computer knowledge required. * Ability to work effectively with patients, physicians, physician office personnel, and department personnel. * Able to work with frequent interruptions. * Must maintain professionalism toward patients and personnel at all times even during stressful situations.
WAGE: $24.25 - $35.05 / Hour - Depending on Experience
