HEAD COOK

Overseeing the production of foods for the shift according to standards issued by the unit manager, assistant unit manager, chef and general supervisor maintaining a high standard of quality.

Delegate work to assistant cooks with regard to stations and production. Will provide direct supervision to assistant cooks.

Check food in for the next shift's meals.

Fill reports in concerning usage of product in all areas as well as making notes concerning production of foods for said meal.

Provide direction and structure for assistant cooks assigned to the various stations.

Assist Assistant Cooks in providing training to the student employees.

Assist Assistant Cooks in learning proper service/cooking techniques where applicable.

Assist unit manager, assistant unit manager, chef and general supervisor in upholding all policies and procedures as instituted by CADI and/or SUNY Delhi.

Obtain feedback from Assistant Cooks and students to ascertain optimal usage of product in various stations.

Maintain standards of sanitation, safety and cleanliness at all times.

Maintain good working relationships among employees.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.

Will be required to attend a food service sanitation course.

May be called upon to perform other duties not specifically described here.

Job Requirements:

Must be able to cook in a fast food environment.

Must be able to operate commercial deep fryers, grills, pizza oven and kitchen equipment.

Must be able to operate a micro-cash register and compute correct change to customers.

Must be able to work independently and supervise others.

Must be able to follow standardized recipes, resulting in a quality-finished product, as assigned according to specific area.

Must be knowledgeable and practicing in food service safety and sanitation.

Must have working knowledge of fundamental culinary skills.

Additional Information:

  • $20.54/hour

  • Available Shifts

  • Full-Time: variable in catering

  • CSEA Local 628

  • Work 32 weeks per year when SUNY Delhi is in session.
