SUNY Delhi seeks a dynamic, forward-thinking, and engaging full-time tenure-track faculty member to fill a ten-month, tenure track Assistant Professor position within the Natural Resource Recreation and Sports Program. Housed within the Division of Veterinary Science and Professional Studies, the program boasts associate degree offerings (Recreation and Sports Management, Adventure Recreation, Park and Outdoor Recreation and Physical Education Studies) as well as a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Recreation and Sports Facilities Management. The program is unique in its approach to experiential learning by way of its relationship with SUNY Delhi Athletics and Intramurals, its operation of a 50-acre outdoor education center, and a variety of community service-oriented activities.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to teach core courses within the NRRS program, with an emphasis on experiential, and engaged teaching practices. The position will require a teaching load of 15 contact hours each semester which should include collaborative efforts to provide out of class experiences for students. Class assignments will be dependent upon candidates teaching and professional experiences but could include classes such as Introduction to Recreation and Sports Management, Program Planning and Leadership, Recreation for Special Populations, Sports Media, Intramural Administration, Team Sports, Human Resource Management for Sports, Budget and Planning for Sports, Sports Event Management, Recreation and Sports Facility Management, Outdoor Education and Camping, Adventure Recreation Programming, or Natural Resource Recreation Management. In addition to classroom instruction, this faculty member will also serve as an academic advisor, serve on campus committees, and seek other forms of collegiate involvement.
Additional responsibilities include:
Program Development:
Participate in annual systematic assessment of the program
Participate in analyzing data and make recommendations for curriculum and programmatic revisions where necessary
Teaching Responsibilities:
Provide evidence-based instruction in accordance with the policies set forth by the College
Post and keep regular office hours for the convenience of students
Participate in the assessment of course, student learning, and program outcomes
Incorporate student service-learning opportunities
Advisement:
Assist in advisement of students
Guide and counsel students toward personal and career development
Track student's completion of degree requirements progression
Academic & Organization Commitment
Serve on campus committees
Special Projects
Participate in faculty meetings
Engage in the academic and organizational life of the college
Job Requirements:
Earned master's degree in sports management, recreation, physical education or related field
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience
Valid unrestricted driver's license
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of one year of collegiate teaching experience
Industry related certifications
Additional Information:
Salary $52,000
This is a 10-month academic year, tenure track position
