Summary:

OWU Libraries is seeking a forward-looking Continuing Resources Librarian (CRL) to join our Collection Services team. This position is responsible for managing the library's online and subscription resources. The CRL will oversee the lifecycle of subscription resources from trial to cancellation. They will work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure access to these resources in the library's search and discovery systems. The ideal candidate will also bring strong analytical, communication, and creative problem-solving skills as this position will be responsible for resource troubleshooting, statistical collection and analysis as well as related budget and trend forecasting. As part of the OWU Libraries staff, the successful candidate will have the exciting ability to contribute to the planning of our future library building and services. As OWU Libraries is a member of several notable consortia, they will also have the opportunity to participate in dynamic consortia projects and a variety of professional development opportunities, including the transition to a new LSP in Summer 2025. Given our strong collaborative focus, this position will be expected to work well with partners both within as well as outside the library. They will come ready to nimbly learn and be flexible with their overall approach to work. While familiarity with academic libraries and publishing is important, this is a position in which learning and growth are heavily encouraged in a team environment.         ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages all aspects of the subscription life cycle for databases, serials (print and electronic), ebook packages, streaming media, access fee content, etc. Subscription life cycles include initiating resource trials, licensing agreements, purchasing, access and discovery, cancellations, and troubleshooting.

Maintains accurate data/access for continuing resources in collaboration with the Discovery Services and Cataloging Manager in the library's major search and discovery systems (Alma/Primo to replace Sierra in summer 2025, Serial Solutions, Springshare's A-Z Databases, OCLC, EBSCONet).

Manages and monitors the library's proxy access to online resources.

Serves as liaison between the library and external vendors, IS, and consortium partners on related matters.

Leads the library's Tipasa ILL and E-Reserves services by fulfilling borrowing and lending requests and acquiring copyright clearance as necessary.

Collects, analyzes and reports usages statistics, requests, and turnaways. Tracks historical trends and makes recommendations for future trends and renewals.

Pays invoices and provides financial reports and forecasting to the Director of Libraries.

Develops and maintains policy and procedure documentation as necessary.

Supervises check in of print periodicals, claims missing, and binding work.

Represents OWU and works collaboratively with consortial counterparts when applicable (Five Colleges of Ohio, OhioLINK, and Oberlin Group.

Supervises student workers as applicable, participating in the Library's Intentional Student Employment program. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED FACTORS CONTRIBUTING TO SUCCESS:

Master's degree from an ALA accreditation institution or equivalent degree/experience in technical services or related field.

General knowledge of academic library procedures and resources.

Familiarity with integrated library systems and OCLC systems.

Quantitative skills and proficiency with productivity software including Microsoft Office, Excel,

PowerPoint and GoogleDocs.

Familiarity with the academic and scholarly publishing environment and trends, including Open.

Access publishing, AI, accessibility, etc.
