Stetson University Director of Community Standards EX9942 in DeLand, Florida
The Director of Community Standards is responsible for managing the University's Student Conduct System, which adjudicates all non-academic student misconduct. The Director will also serve as the Title IX Deputy Coordinator for Students on the DeLand campus. Stetson University's approach to intervening in student misconduct is supported by a philosophy of educating, protecting, and supporting the parties and all members of the University community while providing culturally competent educational and developmental responses to behavior that violates established policies. Equally important is the proactive design and delivery of educational programs to promote good citizenship, civic engagement, and community among the student body.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:
Lead Community Standards effort on campus through collaboration with hearing officers, Public Safety, and On-Call responders through consultation with the Dean of Students
Review Incident and Public Safety reports daily, assign cases for adjudication, and ensure that all cases are resolved within an appropriate time frame
Serve as Title IX Deputy Coordinator for Students, working closely with the Title IX Coordinator and Title IX Leadership Team
Serve as coordinator for student response effort including assisting with remedies and accommodations
Supervise a part-time Administrative Assistant for Community Standards
Provide professional development and support for hearing officers
Manage the confidential Maxient software system and coordinate judicial hearing schedules using Microsoft Outlook
Recruit, train, and advise the Student Conduct Board, incorporating student development theories
Work collaboratively with the Honor System Council that reports to Academic Affairs; consult with the BEST (Bias Education Support Team)
Lead effort for bi-annual Code of Community Standards review process in collaboration with student leaders
Serve as a member of the HattersCare team, a Care and Behavioral Intervention team that assists with students of the highest need at the institution; this includes serving as a direct contact for 10-15 students
Coordinate effort of appellate officers regarding administrative and procedural review of cases
Stay current on compliance and legal precedents set on the local, state, and federal levels
Prepare, analyze, and maintain statistical information associated with the University's conduct system including assisting with Clery Act documentation
Develop and assess educational programs for students, staff, and faculty on topics related to Community Standards in collaboration with Residential Living & Learning as well as Fraternity & Sorority Involvement
Collaboratively work with partners at the College of Law campus, which is three to four hours away in Gulfport, Florida
Perform other intentional duties that contribute to the University mission as assigned
Required Skills
Experience as a hearing officer in the higher education setting
Maxient software user experience

Required Experience
Master's degree in student College Personnel or a related field is required
At least 5 years of consecutive experience in higher education with a portion of responsibilities being in Community Standards, Student Conduct, and/or Title IX
Experience supervising an individual in a work setting
Experience working with diverse college students from varying backgrounds and identities
