Stetson University Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coach CH9955 in DeLand, Florida

Reporting to the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, the Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach assists in the administration of all phases of the women’s lacrosse program in accordance with NCAA Division I, ASUN Conference, and Stetson University rules and philosophies. The Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach supports Stetson University by providing an enjoyable fan experience, keeping our spaces clean and safe, helping our students grow, creating relationships which strengthen our alumni base, ensuring our financial strength, recruiting incredible new Hatters, and impacting the lives of young women on the lacrosse team. Serving as a member of the Women's Lacrosse Team, the Assistant Coach will work directly with the Head Coach and fellow assistants in the following areas: recruiting, camp coordination, travel accommodations, everyday office work, alumni engagement, gameday operations, and any other items that the Head Coach delegates to this position.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Employment duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach in the administration of all aspects of the women’s lacrosse program

  • Assist Head Coach with needs on and off the field

  • Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes

  • Assist in pre-, in-, and post-season training, practices, and games

  • Assist in all areas relating to the operation of the women’s lacrosse program, including day-to-day administrative and operational responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and maintenance of appropriate public relations including video/scouting

  • Assist with video analysis of games and practices

  • Assist with the team fitness programs including strength & conditioning

  • Help coordinate recruiting including evaluation, visits, camps, etc.

  • Support correspondence and communication as a camp director

  • Organize all Stetson Women’s lacrosse camps including scheduling

  • Assist with game and practice scheduling

  • Assist with fund-raising and promotional activities as necessary

  • Assist in coordination of practice and game preparation

  • Perform other site and position specific duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Effective verbal and written communication

  • Computer skills are a must

  • Experience with day-to-day administrative and operational responsibilities of leading and supervising a women’s lacrosse program; including but not limited to implementation of running and workout programs, budget management, professional development, NCAA rules and regulations, organization skills, and supporting the educational goals and ideals of the members of the women’s lacrosse program

  • Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations; and a commitment to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the NCAA and ASUN Conference as required

  • Ability to recruit, coach, and teach a wide skill range of athletes the fundamentals and theories of women’s lacrosse and manage all facets of the women’s lacrosse program

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and develop world-wide recruiting master plan

  • Proven ability to to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, admissions and financial aid officers, fellow employees, program boosters, and the public

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 2-5 years demonstrated college coaching experience in coaching women’s lacrosse

  • A commitment to the academic goals of Stetson University

    Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as determined by the University’s auto insurance carrier.

    Ideal Candidate Qualifications:

  • Master's degree

  • Ability to lead with integrity and positively influence the lives and athletic careers of the student-athletes on the Women’s Lacrosse team

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Superb organization skills to effectively manage and lead women’s lacrosse programs

    Work Environment: Duties required: both indoor and outdoor work; direct exposure to prevailing weather, extreme heat, humidity, and cold; ability to endure physically strenuous work-outs and physical exercise on a daily basis, including standing and/or walking for long periods, bending, stooping, lifting; manual dexterity; lifting of up to fifty pounds; ability to work hours outside the normal University schedule; physical ability to travel; perceptual demands for sound, form, depth.
