Job Summary

Responsible for designing, developing and executing complex communications strategies, plans and messaging that supports the Company’s programs and leaders. These communications can be broad reaching with significant impact to customers, employees, and other key stakeholders. This role may work on executive communications and may have direct reports.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic communications regarding initiatives that drive performance in the company andits critical functions.

  • Designs, develops and deploys creative communication. Identifies target audience and developscommunication that will engage and create interest with the audience, and deliver messages that willsupport and build our business and create goodwill with customers and employees.

  • Maintains a knowledge of company and external events or issues for which a Company positionshould be leveraged online. Ensures that the communication places the Company in the best possibleposition with key stakeholders, customers and employees.

  • Collaborates in the development and implementation of an annual digital communications strategyand plan for the company that is integrated with and supports key activities of company and supportsbusiness objectives.

  • Develops and implements communications strategies on complex, key business initiatives and events,including outlining objectives and strategies, creating appropriate messaging, managing timelines andproject deadlines and managing contributions and expectations.

  • Collaborates with all areas of Communications and other key stakeholders to ensure all digitalcommunications planning, execution and messaging is integrated and linked with company positionsand corporate goals.

  • Collaborates with other Communications leaders to identify, design and create materials and eventsthat will deliver company messages to key audiences.

  • Acts as a representative for Communications to effectively communicate company positions,corporate goals and objectives to digital audiences. Identifies target audiences for messaging anddesigns communications that engages the reader.

  • Masters relevant industry and business unit information.

  • Manages the design, development, and deployment of employee communication that will be delivered through digital channels to an internal audience. Collaborates with leaders throughout the company to identify engaging stories and messages pertaining to business objectives, employee profiles and company activities that present Walgreens as an employer of choice and a best-in-class employer.

  • May handle Strategic Conference Planning, including developing proactive, cross-functional strategies to deliver on WBA’s business priorities, inclusive of top-tier and industry-leading speaking and media engagements; evaluating primary and secondary conferences, working across the organization and communications colleagues to identify opportunities for executive presence and support conference presence; working across the executive communications team to help identify the right strategic avenues to deploy executives' platforms and contribute to materials that support those activities, which may include speaking panels, keynotes and other speaking engagements; Determining executive topics of expertise and interest that match business objectives and/or reviewing/updating conference policies with the compliance team

  • May perform Executive Communications Support, including leading day-to-day support of CEO communications and event presence, internally and externally; aggregating and recommending key messages; standardizing briefing documents, serving as primary point of contact for CEO invitations, internally and externally; Creating and executing CEO posting strategy (internal and external)l working with ECCT colleagues to pull metrics and alter strategy based on insights; developing executive-level benchmarking to gauge how executive communications enhances brand reputation and sharing with corporate communications to help inform executive thought leadership strategies moving forward; creating core business materials that articulate objectives, strategy and key messages for senior leaders to use upon strategy development; creating core business materials that articulate objectives; refining CEO priority topics that support business priorities and strategically align external opportunities and/or developing topic swim lanes for other U.S. based WBA Executive Committee members and their direct reports, maps opportunities accordingly.

  • May allocate available resources to meet operating objectives. May develop and mentor staff through on-boarding, open communication, training and development opportunities and performance management processes; nay build and maintain employee morale and motivation; may ensure the team is appropriately staffed with required competencies; may foster a diverse and inclusive workplace.

External Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience in developing, executing and integrating communications plans OR High School/GED and at least 7 years of experience in developing, executing and integrating communications plans.

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams.

  • Experience providing counsel, influence and challenge to the thinking of business leaders.

  • Experience writing and editing in AP style.

  • Experience with project management (for example: planning, organizing, and managing resources tobring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).

  • Experience leading and completing multiple projects on deadline.

  • At least 2 years of experience contributing to financial decisions in theworkplace.

  • At least 2 years of direct leadership, indirect leadership and/or crossfunctionalteam leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications and/or English.

  • Knowledge of change management methodologies.

  • Experience in the indirect management of team members, including assisting in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other members of a team.
