Kelly Services Site Logistics Rail Scheduler in Deer Park, Texas

Purpose of role The Scheduling role identifies and resolves potential conflicts, constraints, or deviations in the scheduling plan to meet customer, unit, function or business needs.

The person filling this role will utilize Material Flow Work Process knowledge to develop and optimize the scheduling plan and proactively resolve any deviations and/or conflicts from the normal shipment process.

Objectives of role

  • Manage railcar requirements at business and site level.

  • Follow business material flow requirements and rules.

  • Ensure accurate railcar inventory on site and storage yard locations

  • Reconcile the site yard by recording all movements from previous day.

  • Review and identify constraints and/or restrictions that may impact the ability to fulfill requests.

  • Communicate with site logistics contacts to inform them of scheduling plan exceptions.

  • Interface with Rail Cycle Techs ensuring railcars are pulled from service to complete regulatory inspections prior to their expiration date.

Daily Activities

  • Run inventory reports, review the scheduling plan for completeness, manage changes, exceptions, and facilitate resolution of issues.

  • Enter daily railcar movements for loading, washing, repairing etc. into GVP and create rail switches for the onsite switching crew.

  • Create and distribute scheduling plan (inbound/outbound/)

  • Verify all shipment details for accuracy and completeness

  • Gather, monitor, review, and communicate scheduling performance measures within work processes to appropriate partners.

  • Manage exceptions and extraordinary request made by the plant, customer, CSR, etc. as it relates to this role.

Critical Success Factors

  • Site logistics knowledge, skills and competencies utilized to manage exceptions within the Material Flow Work Process.

  • Material Flow Work Process experience. Diamond System/ SAP working knowledge for successful job execution.

  • Timely and accurate data entry performance.

  • Teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old or older

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED

  • Must have a current, valid US driver’s license

  • Willing and able to work all applicable shifts on a rotating basis (including weekends) and work overtime when needed

  • Preferred experience with rail logistics

  • Preferred experience with SAP, GVP, and Microsoft Office
