The Senior Director, Global Product Management for Leica Biosystems is responsible for continuously improing customer benefits and business value of the assigned portfolio. The Sr. Director owns the complete Product-Life-Cycle-Management for the entire Instrument and Consumable product portfolio of the Business Unit and leads the product management team in new product development (NPD) and LCM projects from beginning to end in close cooperation with Project Management and R&D leaders. The Sr. Director develops and executes business plans as well as global strategies to drive core growth and profitability for a wide range of products and solutions for use in anatomic pathology labs as well as adjacent markets.

This position is part of Leica Biosystems BU Core Histology located in Richmond, IL or Deer Park, IL and will be on-site. At Leica Biosystems, our vision is to advance cancer diagnostics and improve lives.

  • Leads the global Product Management and Application team for the Instrument and Consumable product portfolio of the Business Unit Core Histology

  • Ensures efficient operation of the product management function and develops annual business plans to ensure alignment.

  • Leads and owns the business performance of the assigned portfolio of products and solutions to drive, meet / exceed revenue, profitability, and growth targets.

  • Leads the efforts to define customer business use cases, identify market, business opportunities and risks and translates into a winning portfolio and product strategy.

  • Owns the strategic roadmap for responsible portfolios of team. Ensures development and execution of deliverables on roadmap.

  • ​ The essential requirements of the job include:

  • BS/BA in marketing or health sciences -- or related discipline -- advanced degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of product management or marketing experience, with at least 4 of those in product management -- preferably in medical device or in-vitro diagnostic industry

  • 5+ years of business and commercial experience in leadership positions in medical device or in-vitro diagnostic industry.

  • Successful track record of commercial success in development of product portfolio product definition, marketing strategies as well as successfully bringing new products to market.

  • Proven ability to lead and influence internal costs-functional matrix teams and senior stakeholders in a global environment, driving and influencing other results.

  • Identifies and solves complex, operational, and organizational problems leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the department.

  • Understands key business drivers and the factors that maximize performance for area of responsibility.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
