Job Summary
We are now seeking the above position reporting into the NA Corn Manufacturing Performance Manager, to provide subject matter expertise on all performance aspects of operations, including operating costs, usages, operational KPI’s, and capital expenditure justifications. The Performance Management Lead is a leader in improving the plants’ cost position and operations reporting.
This role will be based in the Decatur, IL, Corn Processing Plant.
Job Responsibilities
To lead on the preparation of the annual financial plans for the Decatur Corn Plant, including;
Engaging with Plant and Technical Center colleagues on setting benchmarks for operating costs and coordinating their input for the financial plan.
To train, coordinate and assist operations teams on the planning process.
Support in developing justification for capital investment strategies at the location.
Coordinate and perform month end close including inventory, load, and usage reconciliation
Engage with accounting and plant on streamlining month end close procedures to aid in accuracy and timeliness of results
To coordinate with Operational, Commercial & Financial teams in maintaining financial & volume forecasts
To lead on plant cost analysis and variance review processes, with a view towards driving actions and value creation and contributing to updated forecasts in alignment with finance teams including;
To take a lead role in leveraging performance management tools for review & response processes.
Analyze performance gaps and highlight areas of opportunity by mining data from such sources as PI, Maximo, Hyperion, accounting reports, and PowerBI reports.
Work with accounting to explain cost anomalies.
To promote accountability of financial and operational KPIs among plant leadership via coaching and follow-up.
Assisting Operations Technical Centers where needed by taking part in AFE preparation and lookbacks to understand financial justification of capital expenditures.
To leverage and promote Performance Excellence initiatives, such as Zero Loss, Focused Improvement and Losses-to-Action.
To review and update as appropriate energy and chemical forecasts.
To report on, refresh and distribute numerous reports and data including monthly financials against the plan, forecast information for monthly calls and site specific KPI dashboards.
Job Requirements
4 year university degree in engineering or accounting preferred, MBA a plus.
3-5 years in operations accounting or process operations, with preferred exposure to both.
Plant-specific process knowledge preferred, or sufficient ability to learn quickly.
Plant-specific operations accounting and financial process familiarity preferred
Candidate that doesn’t come ready with both technical and financial capabilities needs ability and desire to grow these areas
Requires ability to collaborate, influence, lead, and execute.
Must be able to communicate at all levels, and be comfortable engaging with colleagues across varied functions and levels
An understanding of operational accounting best practices with the ability to navigate ADM’s systems and processes.
A solid foundation in basic IT toolkits and productivity/BI software with the ability to adapt and provide required information quickly and in a clear manner.
Able to understand fundamentals of plant operations, including process flow, cost structure and basic energy and material balance.
A good knowledge of high level operating KPIs such as OEE, yield, energy/chemical utilization, and Cost of Poor Quality
A good knowledge of plant costing matters, such as drivers for fixed and variable costs, how to plan and analyze, benchmarking and optimization and a good working knowledge in issues such as depreciation, pricing, inflation, operational efficiency, allocations and absorption.
Able to communicate effectively across multiple functions and levels both written and verbally on plant performance and improvement efforts & comfortable preparing and presenting consolidated information to an audience.
