Job Title: Mechanical Laboratory Technician

Job Description

Responsible for setup and completion of mechanical testing on products with an emphasis on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Safely perform tests on present, competitive, and experimental products, as well as on customer returned products. Fabricate, machine, and assemble fixture setups for experimental tests using electronic and mechanical test equipment. Demonstrate diligence and thoroughness while conducting tests. Perform necessary reporting and follow-up activities once tests are completed. Ensure daily and weekly tasks are completed on-time. Conform to all necessary PPE and safety requirements at all times. Committed to delivering exceptional results. Communicate and interact with all levels of the organization to facilitate and drive improvements.

Hard Skills

  • Set up and completion of mechanical testing

  • Understanding of pressure, torque, and types of fittings

  • Fabrication of machines and rough fabrication

  • Knowledge of mechanical systems

  • Machining knowledge (manual)

  • Machining on custom adapters

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 6 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Decatur, Illinois.

Work Environment

Team of 4 technicians and engineering supervisor. Work closely together on hands-on aspects. Non-air conditioned building, hot and muggy at times. Fans and water available to cool down. Required to wear jeans. 200+ CNC machines on site, dust and coolant in the air. Big projects involving hydraulics, lots of oil on the floor. Work clothes will have grease stains. Testing pressures up to 20,000 psi water, destructive type testing, new product type testing, very mechanical, lots of piping and threading, testing of custom adaptors.
