This position is contingent upon the continued availability of funding and program needs. The Task Force for Global Health offers a hybrid, flexible work schedule.

Based at the Task Force for Global Health in Decatur, GA, and affiliated with Emory University, the Neglected Tropical Diseases Support Center (NTD-SC) aims to optimize operational research and surveillance to eliminate neglected tropical diseases which threaten the lives and well-being of millions of people in some of the world’s most marginalized communities. This work, conducted in close coordination with partners, addresses challenges facing each phase of the programs targeting the Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs): effectively scaling up to reach those at risk, successfully scaling down when their goals are reached, and finally sustaining the reductions achieved in disease prevalence. The NTD-SC hosts the secretariat for the Coalition for Operational Research on NTDs (COR-NTD), a global partnership focused on supporting this research agenda. The NTD-SC is actively pursuing an expanding portfolio focused on providing important services and support to the NTD community.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads the overall management and development of special projects for a complex global program.

  • Manages the strategic planning process and oversees progress toward achieving project goals.

  • Develops and administers project budgets.

  • Participates in the identification of funding sources, initiatives and strategies.

  • Prepares communication documents for articles, reports, and/or presentations.

  • Develops short and long term project goals and objectives.

  • Represents and promotes projects at various domestic and international speaking engagements and with various constituencies, including current and potential funders.

  • Conducts research, analyzes data and identifies and summarizes trends.

  • Develops and prepares reports.

  • May hire, supervise and evaluate staff.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

Serve as senior project manager for the NTD Data Center (90%):

  • Ensure project workstreams are managed effectively, including that tasks are delivered on time within the stipulated scope and budget, dependencies

  • incorporated, and key decisions and project status are communicated effectively across internal and external stakeholders

  • Develop and maintain a detailed plan to monitor and track the progress of the project

  • Document project work plan/timeline, resource needs, resource expectations, key milestone dates and track project process

  • Ensure resource availability and allocation, particularly level of effort from internal staff

  • Regularly coordinate and communicate with project and senior leadership, project staff, donor(s), and external partners for smooth execution of project

  • Review project communications (e.g., meeting discussions, emails, etc.) to extract status updates, and follow up as required with those responsible for workstreams and tasks for clarification / further updating of status

  • Foster effective relationship management between project and senior leadership, project staff, donor(s), and external partners

  • Perform risk management analysis to identify and reduce project risks

  • Escalate risks and concerns to and problem-solve with project and senior leadership

  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including taking, storing and disseminating meeting notes of key decisions, actions with timelines, and risks to effective execution

  • Contribute to development of subawards for system development, maintenance, and hosting

Provide program-level strategic leadership (10%):

  • Review NTDSC and TFGH project management tools, processes and practices, and identify opportunities to harmonize, improve efficiency, and enhance our service to NTDSC stakeholders and partners while also ensuring compliance with donor rules and regulations

  • Collaborate closely with the Project Management Team, Finance, Research, Data Center, and NTDSC leadership teams to analyze NTDSC resource requirements and constraints, and recommend ways to improve efficiency and enhance our service to stakeholders

  • Contribute to NTDSC business development activities, including providing project management support for new business development opportunities

  • Contribute to project management support for newly funded areas

  • Establish and nurture positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and other partners to foster collaboration and innovation

  • Perform other related duties as required

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate fully as a member of The Task Force for Global Health by contributing, assisting, and participating in projects, activities, and initiatives as requested by management.

TRAVEL:

  • Up to 10% domestic and international

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of project management or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Proficiency with various computer software packages.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certified or equivalent

  • Proficiency with Google Suites, Smartsheet and JIRA

  • Proficiency in management of software or product development, maintenance and use projects

  • Experience managing a large portfolio of complex projects

  • Experience working with international stakeholders

  • Strong desire and ability to foster an environment of inclusion, equity, belonging, and respect for diversity

  • Strong English oral and written communication skills (professional-level fluency)

  • Experience managing a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to The Task Force for Global Health on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. The Task Force reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
