What you'll do...

Review and implement tooling sourcing strategies in conjunction with the purchasing to ensure that those strategies are implemented successfully

Responsible for tool sourcing with purchasing counterpart and Tier 1. Understanding the tool cost drivers and ability to identify opportunities to meet cost targets in cooperation with purchasing, engineering, cost estimators

Knowledge of tool delivery timing and align with Ford's Global Product Development System.

Ensure production tool timing and plans meet home line delivery of tooling at the Tool Tryout milestone.

Develop analytical tools and strategies to deliver BIC (Best in Class) tool performance and timing (Shop Performance Analytics, Benchmarking, shop development plans, Market Intelligence, targets, competitive bids, Low-Cost Country sourcing, etc.)

Single point of contact and co-ordination regarding technical issues for suppliers and engineering on global vehicle programs for commodities assigned

Resolves emerging issues by engaging Engineering, Program, STA, Purchasing, Cost Estimating, part Suppliers, and Tool shops to drive timing deliverables with required pedigree parts.

Manage positive relationships with the supply base and/or plant personnel acting like a partner, being accountable, trusting and being trustworthy, communicating with consistency, being fact based while driving for results

Establish tone of ethical business operations to avoid any fraud, bribery or corruption in order to maximize the relationship value.

Monitor technical depth and quality of supply base including follow-up on further development and establishment of back-up plan in case of risk

Develop a world class supply base for commodities assigned that is capable of delivering the quality, cost and timing objectives of Vehicle Operations and Manufacturing Operations product programs.

Identify and develop tool supply base for any emerging technologies working together with product development.

Ensure long term partner suppliers are capable of meeting quality, cost, timing and technology expectations.

Interfaces with Global Vendor Tooling teams in North America, South America and International Markets Group to deliver global and regional programs, to exchange best practices, external part benchmarking and tool supplier information and tooling market conditions.

You'll have...

High School Diploma or GED required.

5+ Years of experience in metal tooling related field (tool construction, assembly integration, manufacturing feasibility, processing, cost estimating).

Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Previous experience with tooling commodity and corporate business acumen.

Ability to work with others and foster collaboration, Can-do positive attitude, self-motivated to take responsibility, Drive for results, strong technical competency.

High degree of emotional intelligence.

Ability to manage multiple critical assignments with resilience to pivot nimbly when required.

Experience in cross-functional Ford roles would be advantageous, with strong grasp of GPDS.

Impeccable communication skills required.

This position is a range of salary grades 5-8 .
