Motion Controls Software Technical Specialist

As the Motion Controls Software Technical Specialist, you will be responsible for developing and implementing safety critical embedded controls software to control vehicle motion (propulsion, steering and/or braking). This also includes troubleshooting system issues, including sensor/wiring/electronic hardware, actuators, and embedded software at both application and Basic Softwar levels

What you'll do...

  • Develop and implement safety critical embedded controls software to control vehicle motion (propulsion, steering and/or braking)

  • Analyze system design and specify sensor requirements needed to fulfill control system requirements

  • Optimize control system design given actuator capabilities

  • Include Functional Safety and Failure Mode Avoidance considerations in the system design

  • Develop validation tests (unit level, sub-system level, system level) that can be automated and integrated into a CI/CD pipeline, analyze test results as needed

  • Support development of, and execution to, a workplan to deliver controls software in support of target Vehicle Programs, and deliver project through production

  • 'Troubleshoot system issues, including sensor/wiring/electronic hardware, actuators, and embedded software at both application and Basic Software (I/O Drivers,

  • Communication Stack, Cybersecurity implementation, etc.) levels

You'll have...

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.

  • 10 years experience implementing safety critical embedded controls software

  • 3+ years experience implementing and validating motion control algorithms in embedded software (C/C++) for production applications

  • 3+ years experience troubleshooting and debug skills and end-to-end control system issue resolution

Even better, you may have...

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Mechanical Engineering (with a focus on Dynamics/Controls)

  • 20 years experience implementing safety critical embedded controls software

  • Experience operating in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) team

  • Proficient in Jira, GitHub, Jama, and Jenkins/GitHub Actions

  • Expertise in EV/Hybrid propulsion control systems including Motor Controls, Thermal Management and/or Charging

  • Experience implementing software in the AUTOSAR Classic platform
