Ford Motor Company Manager, Employee Relations in Dearborn, Michigan

In this position...

The Manager, Employee Relations, working under general direction, is responsible for implementing labor strategy and negotiations actions. The daily operation of this role includes project management including creating and executing project plans, collaborating with teams including cross-functionally, to implement processes and training material. This role will also have People Leader responsibilities for 1-2 direct reports.

What you'll do...

  • Project management – includes creating project plans, designing, and executing project milestones/KPIs, managing executive-level report-outs and full implementation of the project deliverable.

  • Conduct external benchmarking on a variety of labor market and process items, create summaries, and present results.

  • Lead objectives and deliverables for continuous improvement projects. This includes using LEAN tools to help deliver key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify preventive measures to keep processes working as designed. – add standardizing processes.

  • Lead/facilitate executive-level meetings.

  • Develop and deliver ongoing labor process training to plant teams.

  • Develop executive-level meeting materials/ presentations.

  • Develop and deliver National/Local negotiation workshops.

  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans.

  • Ongoing coordination of negotiation commitments.

  • Lead a negotiations subcommittee on a specified topic including: conducting benchmarking, data analysis, strategy presentations, and serving as lead negotiator.

  • Support National Negotiations contractual language control process.

  • Manage National Negotiations facility matters, budget, food services, etc.

  • Ad hoc research and other assignments as required.

  • People Leader responsibilities for 1-2 direct reports.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial/Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience.

  • Minimum 6 years of work experience in the manufacturing industry

  • Plant labor and/or management level labor relations experience is required

  • Experience working with and implementing collective bargaining agreements

  • Functional proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications and SharePoint.

  • Problem solving / conflict resolution.

  • Data analysis / data presentation.

  • Project management skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication including presentation skills.

  • Ability to build consensus with stakeholders.

Even better, you may have...

  • Master’s Degree in Industrial/Labor Relations, Employee Relations, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or any other related discipline is preferred

  • Experience working with the UAW at various levels preferred

  • Negotiations experience is preferred
