Job Title: Sr. R&D Chemist

Job Description

As the Sr. R&D Chemist, you will be responsible for a variety of functions related to formulation and consumer acceptability of chemistry products. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Formulating chemical products to meet internal ingredient standards and launch deadlines according to industry practices for safety, scientific significance, accuracy, and recordkeeping

  • Conducting appropriate performance testing to benchmarks when identified to ensure proper functionality and premium performance

  • Optimizing formulation ingredients to manage costs and availability of ingredients for intended function

  • Monitoring stability testing, including first production run stabilities, and maintaining records thoroughly and concisely

  • Preparing samples and tracking documentation for micro-challenge testing and toxicological testing, and coordinating outside testing with appropriate resources

  • Meeting with chemical suppliers to stay aware of new raw materials and the possible second sourcing of raw materials to meet cost objectives

  • Reviewing competitive products and preparing technical reports with data from standardized comparative tests

  • Investigating new raw materials and technologies through laboratory experimentation, recording findings, and suggesting applications

  • Assisting in answering consumer calls of a technical nature related to product ingredients, product usage, and possible adverse reactions

  • Assisting in training sales personnel in new product launches prior to ship dates

  • Managing the lab database to keep it current and organized

  • Assisting in problem-solving activities and performing lab evaluations on new and existing products

  • Working with engineers, quality control, analytical services, and others, as well as external persons such as vendors, potential customers, and third-party manufacturers

  • Conducting field evaluations regarding formulations, raw materials, finished products, product applications, upscaling of manufacturing, and packaging of new, existing, and experimental products

  • Reviewing research literature, technical reports, periodicals, competitor product literature, vendor reports and literature regarding the specialty chemical industry, research findings, product specifications and formulations, and the general chemical industry community and body of knowledge

  • Gathering empirical data from quality control, technical services, and other sources for establishing product development specifications for new raw materials and products, and for enhancements of existing products and procedures

  • Complying with all applicable OSHA, EPA, local regulatory laws, and company safety policies

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in De Pere, Wisconsin.

Work Environment

R&D Lab - Typical day shift hours. They will work in the lab and facility to develop products and will also work in the field to test products in real-world scenario
