Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent Work Experience Required:1 yearof experience in Security, law enforcement, or military Preferred: Previous experience or is presently, an armed police officer with a Louisiana or Federal Law Enforcement Agency (reserve status is acceptable) and has had arrest power and been assigned in an active law enforcement capacity. Certifications Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association Valid driver's license in the state of practice and clean DMV report Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI), and firearms training. International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification to be obtained within 90 days of promotion/hire Preferred: Completion of Certified Police Officer of Standard Training Policy Academy (state, federal, or military). Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification or Military Police equivalent.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information. Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard. Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individual. This position is considered Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster. Ability to read, write and speak the English language. Ability to continuously walk the company property including outside areas, interior areas, using stairwells in 11 floor plus structure. Must be able to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
Responsibilities: Enforces all company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property. Conducts routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations of the company. Investigates accidents and other incidents which are assigned and reports all occurrences in a timely manner. Performs safety and security related duties as assigned and in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. Performs opening/lockdown of all buildings as approved by Administration and performs other safety and security related duties as assigned. Participates in emergency response and related preparedness drills. Maintains required annual certifications and completes training requirements within required time periods. Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. Other related duties as required.

NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible. Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, but exposure or potential for exposure may occur. The incumbent works with patients who have known or suspected communicable diseases and may enter isolation rooms. There may be an occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
