Dayton Children's Hospital Infection Prevention Coordinator in Dayton, Ohio

Facility:Dayton Children's - Main CampusDepartment:Quality Assurance Division - Infection PreventionSchedule:Full timeHours:40Job Details:Shares responsibility for the hospital-wide Infection Prevention and Control Program. Provides direction and leadership to assigned personnel and ensures that all Infection Prevention functions are performed accurately and efficiently. Assists In maintaining the organization-wide Infection Prevention Program in conjunction with the Medical Director for Infectious Disease. Contributes to ongoing analysis, development, and implementation of methods and systems using epidemiological principles and statistical methods to improve overall effectiveness of Infection Prevention program and processes. Assists to develop services, policies and procedures and exists to promote patient safety, advocacy, and quality patient care with unsurpassed clinical and cost outcomes. Develops, coordinates, and implements an effective program of infection control, prevention, and surveillance, teaching infection control and prevention measures, and serving as a resource person for communicable disease management, infection prevention practices, and infection prevention regulations and standards. Areas of expertise include knowledge of pertinent regulations and recommendations pertaining to infection prevention and employee health (including OSHA, The Joint Commission, The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid, Ohio Department of Health, and CDC), infectious disease, epidemiology and statistics, clinical and environmental safety and microbiology, patient care and departmental practices, educational methods, and management and communications skills. The Infection Preventionist initiates and participates in research activities, serves on various hospital wide and unit-based committees, and ensures that the organization is compliant with infection prevention and control standards from regulatory agencies.

Department Specific Job Details:

Education

Bachelor's degree in nursing, science, or public health required

graduation from an accredited program of Nursing or Science required

Master's degree in preferred

Experience

5 years pediatric experience in nursing or microbiology/virology required

7+ years pediatric experience in nursing or microbiology/virology preferred

Position will take call on a rotational basis ( required ).

Skills/Qualifications

  • strong computer skills using Microsoft Office

  • Strong computer skills using NHSN applications

  • Understanding of CDC.ODH regulations

  • Experience in EPIC Clinical Information System preferred

  • TJC and/or CMS accreditation experience preferred

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations preferred
