Qualifications Possess and maintain a valid driver license Have a High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Pass the EEI Tech Test or other Company approved aptitude test And must also meet one of the following criteria: A minimum of a 2-year Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Energy Management Technology, Industrial Engineering, Engineering University Transfer, Electric Power Engineering/Technology, a Program Certificate in Electric Power Technology from Bismarck State College or equivalent military training in the fields listed above. A Journeyman's electrician license or equivalent military training as an electrician. Responsibilities Under directive supervision, facilitates design of electric projects of an increasing difficulty including three phase electric extensions, replacements or revocations. Ability to perform all aspects of the Design Technician I Design projects of increasing difficulty under directive supervision such as: Three phase extension (overhead and underground) Three phase replacements, revocations or removal Distribution of facilities under-built on transmission poles Relocation of existing facilities Highway/Governmental projects Understand basic tariff and billing policies. Interact with commercial, industrial and government customers, developers, architects and engineers from outside firms and other DP&L personnel. Assist and instruct other Company personnel in matters relating to electric distribution design. Identify and analyze abnormal conditions on the electric distribution systems. Help teach/mentor newer members to the department. Perform other similar or skilled work. Design Tech I - Determine residential electric meter and service locations. Update electric maps and outage management system. Complete design necessary for work orders. Utilize applicable codes and standards: DP&L Electric Engineering and Construction Standards, DP&L Safety Code, Safety Performance Requirements Manual, Electric Service Handbook, National Electric Code (NEC), and the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and other pertinent regulatory requirements. Prepare drawing and design simple work orders under direct supervision such as: Single phase extensions (overhead and underground) Replacement or removal of facilities Night guard projects Understand basic surveying tec
