Position Overview

The Shaw residential product design team is seeking a talented design director to join our brand and design team to collaborate closely with cross-functional internal and external teams as well as global vendors. The Brand Design Director will develop and drive the creative vision and design strategy for flooring products, for their assigned brand, ensuring product designs resonate with the brand ethos, and consumer and market trends.  

Potential to lead a team of flooring product designers to execute the creative vision and design strategy for the brand at Shaw Industries. Collaborate with Brand team partners, create and communicate the product design strategy to align with product development timelines. Cultivate an innovative product design culture led with brand ethos.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design vision and strategy, ensuring all products reflect the brand's identity and appeal to target customers

• Ability to translate consumer data into a product design strategy across multiple categories

• Collaborate with Product and Marketing teams to integrate design into overall brand strategy, product development, and marketing materials

• Stay abreast of design trends to keep the brand at the forefront of innovation and consumer preferences

• The design director will do market research in color and design trends, create product presentations, engage in customer feedback sessions, and participate in trade shows

• Demonstrate a creative approach to all tasks with the ability to manage multiple designers using excellent time management skills while cultivating a collaborative team environment. 

• Manage the design team's workflow, prioritizing projects to align with brand initiatives and market launch schedules

• Position requires the ability to work globally on occasion, traveling internationally to work with vendors and attend trade shows in Asia and Europe, as well as domestic travel 

• Participate in customer interactions such as customer tours, focus groups, and other product presentations

• Ability to work and influence cross functionally with Marketing, Innovation, Product Development, and external/international partners & vendors.

• Positive market reception and customer feedback on new designs

• Contribution of design innovations to overall brand growth and market share

  Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Fine Arts, Textile Design, or related field; advanced degree or specialized design certifications desirable

• Must have excellent Photoshop skills. AVA CAD/CAM skills are desired, but not required  

• Experience with brand strategy is preferred and will be an important part of the position 

• Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to work globally

• Innate aesthetic sense and intuitive understanding of color and design principles 

  Qualifications:

• An ideal candidate will possess proven experience in design leadership, preferably in the hard surface flooring, soft surface flooring, or tile industry 

• Strong portfolio showcasing a track record of successful product design and team leadership

• Excellent collaborative skills to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Fine Arts, Textile Design, or related field; advanced degree or specialized design certifications desirable

• 5+ Years product design experience

8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
