Texas Instruments Systems Engineering Intern (Sensing and Processing) at Kilby Labs in Dallas, Texas

Description

We can’t predict what the future holds, but we know Texas Instruments will have a part in shaping it.

At TI, Systems engineers focus deeply on understanding the technical needs, and future trends of an industry or end equipment, then create new products and innovative forward-looking product roadmaps to solve them. Systems Engineers are an integral part each phase of new product development at TI. In the early stages of product development, a Systems Engineer interfaces with key stakeholders (customer decision-makers, application engineers, marketing, management, sales, IC design engineers, technology development) to negotiate specifications, perform trade-offs, understand the competitive landscape, and ultimately develop detailed technical definitions for new products.

This Systems Engineering Intern role is within Kilby Labs, the central R&D organization of Texas Instruments (TI). The lab is chartered to develop novel and innovative technologies and strategies for new business opportunities, drive next generation, differentiated technologies for existing businesses and recruit top technical talent for TI.

In this Systems Engineering intern role, you will have the chance to research compact neural network models and system architectures for mmWave radar sensing applications in industrial and consumer space. You will be challenged with developing the best performance neural network models with the smallest memory and computation footprint. You will be developing new system concepts and approaches, demonstrating the concepts through system level simulations and hardware prototyping and engaging with the product group to drive new differentiated product development. We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated, hard-working, results-oriented individual to contribute in an extremely talented team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • System Knowledge: Develop and apply system expertise in a given application area and design solutions using existing TI silicon devices (DSPs, MCUs, MPUs, analog components, etc.) as well as specify and develop new devices

  • Signal Processing: Develop algorithms to calibrate, intelligently operate and analyze sensor data, and provide desired excitation signals/results for a given application

  • System Simulations: Develop complete system simulations to validate the viability of a given solution, analyze system performance requirements and perform system tradeoff analysis

  • Prototyping: Develop a working prototype together with team members using TI product portfolio:DSP/MCU/MPU device AFE sensor to demonstrate solutions

  • Product Development: Work with team members to provide necessary collateral (simulations, software, schematics, test infrastructure, user guides, and performance results) to ensure a smooth transition from prototyping to product development

  • Intellectual Property: Generate relevant patents to protect TI position in the application space

  • Emerging Technologies: Monitor competitive landscape for performance benchmarks relative to competition and find new applications/opportunities using existing TI products or define future products

Put your talent to work with us as a systems engineering intern – change the world, love your job!
