BlackBox Systems Engineer in DALLAS, Texas

System Engineer:

Location: Plano, TX

Shift: 9am to 6pm CST

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled VMware and Data Center Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in virtualization technologies, particularly VMware, and experience in data center management. This role will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our VMware infrastructure, as well as ensuring the smooth operation of our data center facilities. This also includes the role to optimize Windows servers and Active Directory components to achieve high availability and performance of Exchange, IIS and various business applications supported. This includes designing, installing, configuring, administering, and fine-tuning Windows operating systems and Active Directory Infrastructure across the organization in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and manage VMware virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and associated components.

  • Monitor the performance and health of VMware environments, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize performance and reliability.

  • Manage virtual machine provisioning, configuration, and resource allocation.

  • Implement and maintain VMware High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), and other advanced features to ensure high availability and workload balancing.

  • Work closely with other IT teams to integrate VMware infrastructure with storage, networking, and other systems.

  • Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures and configuration guides.

  • Participate in capacity planning and scalability assessments to ensure the VMware environment meets current and future needs.

  • Manage data center facilities, including power, cooling, and physical security systems.

  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers for equipment procurement, maintenance, and support.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices for data center operations and security.

  • Design, deploy, and manage Microsoft Exchange Server environments, including Exchange Online (Office 365) and on-premises installations.

  • Configure and maintain mailboxes, distribution groups, and email policies in accordance with organizational requirements.

  • Monitor the performance and health of Exchange servers, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to optimize performance and reliability.

AD Infrastructure Management:

  • Design, implement, and maintain the organization's Active Directory infrastructure.

  • Ensure the stability, security, and optimal performance of the Active Directory environment.

  • Design, implement, and manage Azure AD solutions for identity and access management.

  • Configure and maintain Azure AD Connect for synchronization between on-premises AD and Azure AD.

  • Security and Compliance:

  • Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with organizational security policies.

  • Conduct regular security audits and respond to security incidents.

  • DNS and DHCP Management:

  • Manage Domain Name System (DNS) and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) services.

  • Troubleshoot DNS and DHCP-related issues.

  • Collaboration and Documentation:

  • Collaborate with other IT teams for integrated solutions.

  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all infrastructure configurations and changes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field with 10+ years relative experience.

  • Proven experience as a VMware Administrator or a similar role.

  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory services.

  • Strong understanding of security concepts and best practices.

  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

  • VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP):

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

  • CompTIA Security+

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Travel

  • Will assist local Data Center as needed
