Job Purpose and Impact

The Strategic Key Account Manager – Diamond V will expand strategic partnership with assigned large customers. In this role, you will create demand for company products and services by raising the company's profile with customers. You will collaborate with the commercial sales team to ensure defined customer needs are met.

Diamond V’s natural immune support postbiotic feed additives help optimize animal health, animal performance, and preharvest food safety. We provide expert, experienced, technical support to our customers to help keep their animals healthy and grow their businesses. Based on 80 years of research and development, Diamond V continues to explore and innovate in postbiotic and microbial fermentation science and technology.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement strategy for designated key customers to expand demand, improve margin growth and extend strategic partnership.

  • Establish trust, mutually beneficial and long-term partnership with customers, clarify mid to long term customer needs and develop and agree to a specification of customer requirements.

  • Collect insights from the external market to understand competitors and influence trends, define and deliver value proposition.

  • Build and nurture an internal network of teammates to deliver optimal solutions to the customer. This may include the leadership of collaboration with key stakeholders internally, definition of long-term strategy and anticipation of challenges to ensure effective resolution of issues.

  • Develop storytelling skills that resonates with and inspires customers and that create excitement around our role in the achievement of their strategic objectives.

  • Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. Your efforts will provide direction and leadership to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.

  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR equivalent experience

  • Minimum of six years of related work experience in the dairy industry. Proved success in sales, business development and strategic account management.

  • Experience with technical sales, able to provide technical support to dairy farms, nutritionist and veterinarians, strong knowledge of dairy industry or animal nutrition

  • Travel up to 50% within US

  • Valid driver’s license in good standing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in animal nutrition, dairy industry, animal health, ruminant nutrition, feed, additives, supplements, or related industry

  • Experience in understanding customer context, uncovering customer key performance indicators, articulating customer objectives and delivering customer centric solutions that builds relationship value

  • Experience in developing and maintaining strategic long-term relationships across the decision making ladder of complex strategic accounts

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teammates in building of and execution of strategic account plans for large strategic customers across multiple geographies

  • Strong team building skills to foster collaboration and accountability within internal account teams providing support to targeted strategic accounts

  • Ability to effectively communicate with and lead account teams in developing and delivering proactive solutions to the customer; including defining and delivering the value proposition of product lines and service offers as part of the solution package delivered to the customer

  • Strong project management skills including building account team engagement and accountability

  • Effective understanding of industry trends, competitors actions, and market conditions to provide valuable insights that position our customers for success
