Robert Half Staff Accountant in Dallas, Texas
Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team in the construction contracting industry, based in Dallas, Texas. As a Staff Accountant, your role will primarily involve managing financial records, processing invoices, and ensuring accurate job costing for all construction projects.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the accurate recording of job costs for all ongoing and completed construction projects
• Regularly prepare and review job cost reports to keep track of project budgets and expenses
• Monitor project costs to ensure alignment with budget forecasts, promptly identifying any discrepancies or potential cost overruns
• Prepare and distribute financial reports to relevant stakeholders such as project managers, contractors, and upper management
• Process invoices from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers, managing accounts payable
• Ensure the timely payment of invoices with a keen focus on maintaining accurate records of all payments
• Prepare and send customer invoices for completed work, while diligently tracking payments and collections
• Reconcile statements from vendors and resolve any discrepancies found
• Review and analyze contracts to ensure the financial terms are properly reflected in project records
• Monitor the progress of contract billings and payments to ensure all contractual obligations are met. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Proven experience as a staff accountant, preferably within the construction or contractor industry.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Oracle, SAP, QuickBooks, and NetSuite.
• Strong knowledge and experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Ability to perform Bank Reconciliations and maintain General Ledger.
• Experience with Journal Entries and Month End Close processes.
• Excellent numeracy skills with an attention to detail.
• Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proactive problem-solving skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
