Job Description:

Under the direction of the Director of the Battery prototype laboratory, the Process/Manufacturing/Equipment Technician will perform equipment processing and preventative maintenance while assisting the Process Engineer in equipment repairs, improvements, upgrades, and installation. The Process/Manufacturing/Equipment Technician will work with the Process Engineer to support the daily operation and maintenance of the laboratory. The Process/Manufacturing/Equipment Technician will support the Process Engineer in producing, monitoring, and collecting data for all customer projects, including assisting with creating required reports. The candidate will also assist in interactions with students, faculty, and research scientists to support ongoing and future research projects while maintaining laboratory supplies.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of relevant work experience.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Preferred Education:

  • A.S. in STEM based discipline in manufacturing (preferably Battery) with materials processing similar to converting and product assembly.

Preferred Experience:

  • 4 years of experience preferred in automated equipment operations and troubleshooting battery manufacturing equipment.

  • Experience maintaining and improving automated processes and equipment.

  • Electromechanical experience highly desired.

  • Practical knowledge and application of electronics, mechanics, math, and computers.

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques and the ability to learn the operational concepts of systems, including performing diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques to solve more complex operational and system problems.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, pneumatic diagrams, flow charts, and cause-and-effect drawings.

  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, detail-oriented problem solver, and decision-maker with effective communication skills.

  • Knowledge of basic computer skills and software programs.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
