Opportunity Overview

As a member of the Rhythm field-based North America Region team, the Sr. Manager, Field Medical will serve as a trusted scientific partner to the medical/scientific community and will be responsible for establishing, developing, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders within the geographic area of coverage.

This position requires a strong scientific background as the individual will be a credible source of clinical/scientific data to Key Opinion Leaders (KOL), practicing clinicians, professional societies, and payers.  They will leverage KOL relationships by identifying collaborative opportunities that align with internal stakeholder strategies.  In this role, the individual will also support research initiatives, advisory boards, and other scientific exchange activities to support the Rhythm Medical Affairs medical plan and strategies.

This role will be field based, and the current territories include TX, AR, OK, LA. Candidates need to be centrally located, have access to airports, and be available to travel as necessary.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Be a trusted scientific partner to key external experts by conducting timely, appropriate, and frequent scientific exchanges to enhance the understanding of the scientific and medical value of Rhythm’s research

  • Creates and executes an engagement plan to ensure successful execution of medical strategy/plan with KOLs:

  • Communicate key medical insights from KOLs and other healthcare providers (HCPs) to inform medical strategy

  • Serve as scientific peer-to-peer resource to disease experts and medical community with up-to-date relevant medical information and product information

  • Identify potential investigators and provide field-based medical support to Rhythm’s clinical research programs, registries, and other research initiatives

  • Provide scientific input and participate in local medical and cross-functional initiatives/projects

  • Interpret key scientific data and translate this information to meet educational and research needs in alignment with Rhythm Medical Communications

  • Maintain effective and appropriate communication among internal stakeholders (Medical Affairs colleagues, Medical Information, etc.) while maintaining full compliance with relevant company, industry, legal and regulatory requirements

  • Respond to unsolicited requests for medical information in a timely manner. Ensure that an accurate and fair-balanced response is provided

  • Act as a change agent and adapt approach as business needs evolve and require adjustments to ways of working and focus

  • Participate and take the lead as needed with North America Medical events and training sessions.

    Qualifications and Skills

  • Advanced degree in a technical, scientific, or medical field (PharmD, PhD, MD) strongly preferred

  • A minimum of 6+ years of relevant education and experience in the pharmaceutical / biotech industries (Obesity, Endocrinology, Neurology, Genetics, or Pediatrics preferred)

  • Knowledge of regional specific healthcare systems, the evolving medical landscape, payer sector and industry trends.  Understandings of healthcare systems within the assigned territory

  • Excellent working knowledge of policies and guidance documents related to compliant medical affairs activities (ICH, GCP, PhRMA, DOJ, OIG, R&D Code of Ethical Practices and company policies)

  • Superior communication skills and scientific acumen when presenting clinical, disease state information to a variety of audiences  

  • Able to work collaboratively with matrix partners to provide medical expertise and ensure a united approach to achieving Rhythm’s goals

  • Able to travel within region on average 50 – 75%.  Easy access to major airport hub required
