Robert Half Accounting Manager in Dallas, Texas

Description

Robert Half is working with a manufacturing company in Dallas, Texas who is looking for a skilled Accounting Manager. The successful Accounting Manager candidate will play a key role in directing, leading, and motivating the Accounting Department. This involves overseeing a range of accounting activities, from cost accounting and accounts payable to sales reporting and cash management.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the Accounting Department, which includes training and interacting extensively with co-workers, reviewing work, supervising management accounting activities, and monitoring budgets and forecasts.

• Direct the month-end closing process, ensuring maintenance of scheduled timetables and the accuracy of data for corporate reporting.

• Analyze the financial results of the company to maintain clear and accurate books and records, including supporting schedules.

• Communicate financial aspects of the company to top management and external sources such as bankers, creditors, vendors, auditors, etc.

• Oversee money management activities, including directing and analyzing cash inflows and outflows, cash flow forecasting, and relations with bankers and lenders.

• Ensure compliance with state, sales, property, excise, Canadian, informational census, and other governmental tax returns.

• Direct audits of sales (multistate), income, and property tax, as well as all other governmental agencies.

• Work alongside top management in the semi-annual budget planning activities, including sales, operating costs, and capital plans.

• Assist with year-end external audit with a public accounting firm, including maintaining external and internal timetables, schedule preparation, and special request analysis.

• Prepare special accounting analysis and reports for the company to help management evaluate or communicate results.

• Represent the Accounting Department in various committees and groups as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required

• Professional certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is desirable

• Minimum of 7 years of experience in an accounting manager or controller role within the manufacturing industry

• Ability to perform month-end close procedures effectively and efficiently

• Knowledge of cost accounting, and its application in manufacturing processes

• Experience in inventory accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations

• Extensive experience in handling accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)

• Proven ability to guide, mentor, and lead an accounting team

• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and report generation

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with various departments and stakeholders
