V2X Software Test Engineer in Dahlgren, Virginia

V2X seeks a results-driven Software Test Engineer to join our software development and design teams working to develop advanced systems specializing in spectrum sharing, spectrum control, interference deconfliction, and automated system control. These applications may be specific to afloat Navy vessels and systems. Candidate experience with afloat Navy combat, EW, radar, or other C4ISR systems is beneficial.

In this role you will provide support to Navy development programs and will be responsible for the design, development, and execution of manual and automated test cases for the software applications under development. You will frequently assist with the management and improvements to our software applications and will work with our software development team to ensure issues are resolved.

This position requires an active SECRET level clearance; an active SECRET clearance is preferred.

Work location is in Dahlgren, Virginia with opportunities for remote work / telework.

Responsibilities

Major Job Activities:

  • Review Software requirements and design and develop manual and automated test cases.

  • Execute tests on software to ensure the quality of the product.

  • Analyze, document, and report on all aspects of the software testing, including bugs, errors, usability, impact, and performance.

  • Work with developers and IT staff to oversee code releases.

  • Assist with the administration and management of CI/CD pipelines.

  • Configure the DevOps environment, such as work tracking tools and source control management.

  • Assist with the integration of other DevOps tools to support the software development process.

  • Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve hardware, software, and other network and system problems.

  • Collaborate in an Agile scrum development process.

  • Participate in project meetings including product grooming, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and daily stand-ups.

    Material & Equipment Directly Used:

    Servers, network equipment, standard computers, and high-performance developer computers.

    Working Environment:

    Work will be performed in an office environment approximately 90% of the time. Some on-site work may be required. Local travel is required with the possibility of regional travel roughly 5% of the time.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Programming, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Two (2) years’ experience writing test procedures and developing test plans, configuring systems to accomplish testing, and drafting test reports and performance metrics.

  • Two (2) years’ experience writing and performing functional, performance, and regression testing of software products.

  • Experience working in an Agile scrum development process.

  • Experience defining and documenting processes for conducting engineering tests of military hardware / software systems.

  • Experience scheduling and conducting tests to accommodate fielding schedules and military deployment cycles and coordinating infrastructure requirements to support test objectives.

  • Experience using Jira or another bug / issue tracking tool.

  • Ability to acquire and maintain a SECRET level security clearance.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and executing systems level tests for Navy electromagnetic spectrum software.

  • Active SECRET level security clearance.
