Diesel Technician -- Dafter, MI

Part time on call

We are actively pursuing experienced diesel mechanics/technicians who want to work part time hours and be on call for our repair facility in Dafter, MI. The position is variable hours weekly up to 25 hours a week as needed. The candidate should be able to be on call for work orders that come up at the last minute.

DHT Group currently has five units assigned to our hazardous material/bulk fuel hauling division operating in the Upper Peninsula.

The Diesel Mechanic will be working on a variety of heavy trucks and trailers ranging from OTR sleepers to Live Bottom Trailers, including troubleshooting and repair: electronic, fuel, ignition, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. While the technician will be working mostly independently, all technicians are expected to be able to work within a team environment to accomplish major projects efficiently and effectively.

In this Diesel Tech role, you will:

• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic issues. Ability to test and make adjustments.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance on machines, equipment, and facilities.
• Identifies mechanical problems visually and/or with computer or shop provided diagnostic equipment.

• Perform diagnostics on specific components and systems to determine proper operation.

This is a part time position and is not eligible for benefits. The position is perfect to supplement retirement income or as a second job.
