In this role, the Staff Accountant is in charge of preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, various aspects of internal reporting will be under your responsibility. Lend your skills towards developing and implementing accounting policies. Also, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This intricate position is involved in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This Cypress, Texas area-based position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a company that recognizes and rewards hard work.

How you will make an impact

• Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments

• Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

• Manage reconciliation, depreciation, and fixed asset ledgers

• Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

• Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

• Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks

• Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls. Also ensure that accounting procedures comply with GAAP

• Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries

• Compose journal entries and conduct the month end close with minimal supervision

• Special projects and impromptu reporting, upon request

• Play a part in a variety of department-wide initiatives

• Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable

• In-depth experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations Requirements - 1+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

• Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"

• Knowledgeable of ERP systems

• Dedication and requisite skills to meet critical business deadlines

• Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

• Detailed and have the ability work independently

• Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

• Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges

• BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

• Solid understanding of General Accounting

• Foundational knowledge in QuickBooks

• Month end closings experience preferred

• Deep understanding of Microsoft Excel

• Estimating experience

• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent

• Competent with spreadsheets and databases
