About Us: The Belvedere Grand is a charming lakeside Venue, Restaurant, and Bed & Breakfast located on the shores of Big Manistee Lake in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Our on-site restaurant is known for its high-quality, locally sourced cuisine. We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team and contribute to our reputation for exceptional dining.
Job Summary: The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef in overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen, including menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen staff supervision. This role requires a creative and skilled individual with a passion for culinary excellence and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Executive Chef in menu development and planning.
- Oversee food preparation and ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, ensuring a cohesive and efficient team.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Monitor food quality and presentation, ensuring consistency and excellence.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef and management team to improve kitchen operations and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Culinary degree, equivalent experience, or willingness to learn
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of culinary techniques and food safety standards.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Creativity and passion for culinary arts.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
