Team or Function Overview

With a “Small Town Heart and Big City Spirit,” the City of Cumming is a vibrant community located just a short drive south of the beautiful North Georgia Mountains and about an hour north of Atlanta in Georgia. Known as the “Gateway to Leisure Living,” Cumming offers many amenities and attractions like an aquatics center, fairgrounds, recreation center, Lake Sidney Lanier, and much more while still remaining rich in history and tradition.The GAF Cumming plant manufactures commercial and residential roofing material such as injection molding accessories for roof systems as well as accessories for commercial roofing systems. Summary

The Maintenance Technician needs to be a dependable self-starter with a desire to grow and succeed. Constructs, maintains, and tests mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. Identifies parts for replacement and machines that need new parts and places orders as necessary. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for compliance with safety policies and procedures and for maintaining housekeeping standards in the work area.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain injection molding production equipment

  • Strong troubleshooting knowledge of industrial control systems including Allen Bradley PLC’s, Servo motors and electrical/hydraulics

  • Perform all Preventative Maintenance Work within Plant as well as assist in development of preventive and predictive maintenance procedures for new equipment

  • Use of Hand Tools, Power Tools, and Diagnostic Tools; operate Fork-lifts and Man-lifts

  • Provide documentation of equipment maintenance including inspection, repair, and modifications

  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team to accomplish tasks that arise on a daily/weekly basis.

  • Complete project work; perform unloading, loading, cleaning, and miscellaneous duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Ability to read and concentrate via computer data entry typing

  • Must be able to climb ladders and/or stairs and walk on open grating on elevated surfaces

  • Required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch

  • Frequent sitting, walking, and standing, and occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and balancing

  • Frequent use of eye, hand, and finger coordination enabling the use of office machinery

  • Oral and auditory capacity enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication through automated devices such as the telephone

  • Required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

  • Must continuously have the ability to differentiate colors precisely

  • Occasionally operate business machines

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds

Under This Roof, We Require

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent

  • Proficiency in communication skills including written, verbal, and listening

Under This Roof, We Also Value

  • 2-5 years demonstrated Maintenance Experience

  • Ability to install and align pumps, gearboxes, motors

  • Ability to install and maintain bearings, belts, pulleys, etc.

  • Ability to install piping, valves, flowmeters

  • ProductionOperations/Manufacturingexperience

  • Ability to read Electrical and Hydraulic Prints.

  • Ability to utilize fabrication equipment IE. Lathe, Mill, Welders (MIG, TIG).
