Allegany County - Human Resources Utility Instrumentation Electrical Technician in Cumberland, Maryland
SUMMARY:
This skilled position will perform or assist in the installation, repair, and emergency repair of control systems, electrical apparatus, and backup power at water and wastewater treatment and conveyance facilities. Supervision is received from the Area Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduation or the equivalent. Minimum 10 years of work experience in commercial or industrial instrumentation. Completion of 4 years of electrical apprenticeship program. Journeyman electrician license preferred. (A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough understanding of plant PLC controls, VFDs, soft starts, digital and analog signals, and SCADA requirements; Experience in the use of the equipment used for pulling and installing electrical conductors in conduit; Experience working with hydraulic and manual conduit bending tools and conduit threading machine; Water meter maintenance or meter reading work experience; Ability to effectively read and interpret electrical schematics such as single line ladder logic diagrams, process instrumentation and control diagram process elementaries and schematics; Ability to fabricate and install EMT, IMC, PVC and rigid conduit systems; Knowledge of utility safety requirements such as confined space entry and hazardous energy Lockout Tagout; Ability to establish effective working relationships with co-workers, technical support staff, contractors, and the general public; Knowledge of equipment for voltages of 480 V and under; Knowledge of Wonderware control software (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.)
SALARY AND BENEFITS
This is a Classified position at Grade 107 with a salary range of $50,096 to $72,640 and a complete County benefits package including health and life insurance, paid leave, and pension.
